Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisor

Eastern Seaboard | Sydney-based in office Monday-Friday | Nationally growing business

A newly created opportunity has arisen for a practical and relationship-focused Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisor to join a rapidly growing national construction materials business undergoing a significant safety transformation.
n
With strong executive commitment to safety and investment in additional capability, this is an opportunity to play a foundational role in shaping the next phase of the organisation's safety journey.
n
This is not a traditional compliance-focused Safety Advisor role. The priority is to be visible across the operation, build trusted relationships and understand how work is actually performed.
n
The Role
n
Supporting operations across the Eastern Seaboard, you will act as the eyes and ears of the safety function, spending approximately 80% of your time in the field.
n
Your focus will include:
n
n
Building strong relationships with operational leaders and frontline teams
n
Understanding operational risks and the realities of work "as done"
n
Providing practical safety advice and support
n
Identifying emerging risks, trends and opportunities for improvement
n
Supporting incident investigations and organisational learning
n
Conducting field-based assurance and verification activities
n
Improving safety systems, reporting, processes and documentation
n
Contributing to the development of a comprehensive operational risk profile
n
Supporting the broader uplift in safety maturity across the business
n
n
The operating environment includes transport, logistics, equipment, mobile plant and field-based activities, so practical operational experience is important.
n
About You
n
You will be an experienced Safety Advisor who enjoys being close to operations and building genuine relationships with people at all levels.
n
Experience in transport, logistics, construction, manufacturing, industrial operations, heavy industry, mining or mobile plant environments would be highly relevant.
n
You will bring:
n
n
Practical WHS and risk management experience
n
Experience supporting incident investigations
n
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
n
A curious, collaborative and solutions-focused approach
n
The confidence to challenge respectfully and influence without authority
n
The ability to work autonomously across multiple sites
n
A genuine willingness to travel across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and regional Queensland as required
n
n
Experience in injury management, return to work, workers' compensation or assurance would be advantageous, but is not essential.
n
