The Engineering team at Ebury is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to play a pivotal role in evolving our core transactional platform. As a key member of our global team, you will own the development, scalability, and optimization of our multi-currency account systems, incoming funds, and outgoing payment processes.
n
We are technology agnostic — w e care about your fundamental software engineering craftsmanship, problem-solving abilities, and architectural mindset rather than the specific languages you ' v e used in the past. If you understand how to build resilient, distributed systems, you will thrive here.
n
This is a critical role designed to take our high-volume transactional platform to the next level, delivering a seamless payment experience for both our global clients and internal operational teams.

Domain Ownership: Take full accountability for the services you build under our "You build it, you own it" philosophy — e mbracing everything from initial system design to deployment and production health.
n
Technical Leadership: Lead product initiatives end-to-end, working closely with Product and Operations stakeholders to translate complex financial business requirements into elegant technical solutions.
n
Mentor & Coach: Guide and mentor less experienced engineers, fostering a culture of high engineering standards, thorough code reviews, and continuous learning.
n
Collaborate Globally: Partner with engineering leaders and distributed teams across different regions to design robust, modular services and components.
n
n
About You
n
n
Core Software Engineering Expertise: Proven track record of designing, building, and maintaining complex, highly available software systems at scale. You care deeply about clean code, design patterns, and testability (unit/integration testing).
n
Payments Domain Experience: Background in payments, fintech, or banking. You understand the unique challenges of transactional consistency, ledger systems, multi-currency handling, or external financial integrations.
n
Tech-Agnostic Mindset: Proficient in at least one major backend language and excited about choosing the right tool for the job. Strong experience with distributed architectures, asynchronous messaging, and relational databases.
n
Production & Observability Focus: You don't just write code — y ou know how to run it. Experience building standard APIs, integrating external systems, and setting up robust monitoring and alerting.
n
Communication & Collaboration: Ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly and concisely in English (written and spoken) to both technical peers and non-technical business stakeholders.
n
n
Note: If you ' r e excited about this opportunity but your background doesn ' t match every requirement perfectly, we still strongly encourage you to apply! You may be the right candidate for this or other open roles at Ebury.
n
Our Tech Stack (What you'll work with)
n
We don't expect you to know all of this on day one, but you should be excited to work with:
n
n
Languages & Frameworks: Python, Django, FastAPI
n
Data & Messaging: PostgreSQL, Kafka
n
Infrastructure & DevOps: AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform
n
Observability: Datadog
n
n
What We Offer
n
n
Compensation: Competitive base salary + discretionary performance-based bonus.
n
