Project Manager - Commercial Construction

Overview
n
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join a well-established commercial builder delivering projects across government, defence and other public funded sectors throughout Victoria.
n
With a solid pipeline of secured and upcoming work ranging from $2M to $15M, this role offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects from design through to completion while enjoying a healthy balance between office-based management and site involvement.
n
Based from a Melbourne inner suburb head office, you will manage multiple projects across regional and metropolitan Victoria, with all travel and accommodation expenses fully covered.
n
The Opportunity
n
n
Deliver commercial construction projects valued between $2M and $15M.
n
Strong pipeline of government, defence and public sector projects.
n
Initial projects include a $9M school project, a $2M project commencing in October, and a further $10M Development Victoria project in the pipeline.
n
Melbourne inner suburb office base with periodic site visits as required.
n
Full travel and accommodation provided, including a company credit card.
n
Salary package between $170,000 - $230,000 depending on experience.
n
Autonomous role suited to an experienced Project Manager with strong commercial capability and a proven delivery track record.
n

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Lead the safe, compliant and profitable delivery of projects from design through to completion.
n
Manage design coordination, buildability reviews, value engineering and project risk.
n
Oversee procurement, tendering,



subcontract negotiations and contract administration.
n
Develop and manage project programmes, procurement schedules and recovery strategies.
n
Maintain control of project budgets, cashflow, forecasting, variations, EOTs and commercial performance.
n
Ensure quality systems are implemented, monitored and delivered to practical completion with minimal defects.
n
Manage client relationships, project reporting and stakeholder communication.
n
Ensure compliance with Head Contract obligations, statutory requirements and industrial relations frameworks.
n
Lead and coordinate Site Managers, Contract Administrators, Project Coordinators and subcontractors to achieve programme, quality and financial objectives.
n
Identify and mitigate commercial, contractual, design and delivery risks throughout the project lifecycle.

Experience & Qualifications
n
n
Degree qualified in Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline.
n
5+ years' experience delivering commercial construction projects.
n
Strong experience in project delivery, procurement, contract administration and commercial management.
n
Proven ability to autonomously deliver projects to programme, budget and quality targets.
n
Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated ownership of project financial performance.
n
Excellent stakeholder management, leadership and negotiation skills.
n
Experience delivering government, defence or institutional projects will be highly regarded.
n
