Job Description
Cobra Waste Solutions is a busy waste management company based in Yennora, ****, looking for an experienced Diesel / Plant Mechanic to join our team.
n
This is an onsite position working across our fleet of heavy vehicles, plant and waste-management equipment. The successful applicant will also be required to attend off-site breakdowns and repairs when necessary, using their own tools and reliable transport.

About the Role
n
You will be responsible for keeping our trucks, plant and equipment safe, reliable and operational. This is a hands‐on role suited to an experienced mechanic who is confident working independently and can diagnose and repair a range of mechanical and hydraulic issues.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
Carry out servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance on heavy trucks, plant and waste-management equipment.
n
Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical and mechanical systems.
n
Carry out regular inspections and preventative maintenance to minimise breakdowns and equipment downtime.
n
Perform welding, fabrication and repairs to bins, plant, truck bodies, frames and other equipment.
n
Ensure vehicles and machinery are maintained to a safe and roadworthy standard.
n
Respond to breakdowns and mechanical issues both onsite and offsite when required.
n
Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
n
Identify potential mechanical issues before they result in costly breakdowns.
n
Work safely and follow all workplace health and safety requirements.
n
Keep the workshop and work areas clean, organised and safe.
n

Essential Requirements
n
You must have:
n
n
Minimum 5 years' experience as a Diesel Mechanic, Plant Mechanic or Heavy Vehicle Mechanic.
n
Strong welding and fabrication experience – ESSENTIAL.
n
Experience working on heavy trucks, plant or industrial machinery.
n
Strong mechanical diagnostic and repair skills.
n
Ability to work independently and manage breakdowns and repairs.
n
Ability to carry out preventative maintenance and servicing.
n
Current driver's licence.
n
Own reliable transport.
n
Own professional mechanic's tools.
n
Strong commitment to workplace safety.
n
Ability to work flexible hours and overtime when required.
n
n
Highly Desirable
n
n
Heavy Vehicle Mechanic qualification.
n
Experience in the waste management, transport, earthmoving or heavy machinery industry.
n
Experience with hydraulic systems.
n
Experience repairing and fabricating truck bodies, bins and plant equipment.
n
Experience attending roadside or off-site breakdowns.
n
n
The Person We Are Looking For

We are looking for a reliable, experienced and hands‐on mechanic who takes pride in their work and understands the importance of keeping heavy vehicles and equipment protected and operational.
n
Welding and fabrication experience is essential for this position. Applicants without practical welding experience will not be considered.
n
