Homes & Granny Flats is a rapidly growing residential construction business delivering homes, granny flats and modular buildings across NSW, with plans for national expansion.
n
We're looking for an experienced Internal Building Certifier to join our growing team.
n
This is an opportunity to move into an in-house role where you'll work closely with our construction, project management and operations teams to keep projects moving and ensure they meet the required building and regulatory standards.
n

What You'll Be Doing
n
Certification & Approvals
n
Assess building plans, documentation and proposed works for compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, codes and standards.
n
Coordinate and manage certification requirements for residential projects.
n
Undertake inspections and certification activities in accordance with your registration.
n
Manage Occupation Certificate and related certification processes.
n
Identify compliance issues early and work with the construction team to resolve them.
n
Liaise with councils, engineers, consultants and other regulatory stakeholders as required.
n
Maintain accurate certification records and documentation.
n
Construction Support
n
Work closely with Project Managers, Site Supervisors and construction teams throughout the project lifecycle.
n
Provide practical advice on building compliance and certification requirements.
n
Review construction issues and help identify appropriate compliance pathways.
n
Assist the team to understand certification requirements before issues become costly or delay projects.
n
Support effective project handovers and completion.

Systems & Process Improvement
n
Help develop efficient internal certification and compliance processes.
n
Improve systems for tracking approvals, inspections, certificates and project documentation.
n
Contribute to a culture of quality, compliance and continuous improvement.
n
Support the business as it develops its systems for future national growth.
n
About You
n
We're looking for someone who combines technical knowledge with a practical understanding of residential construction.
n
You'll ideally have:
n
Experience with Class 1a residential construction.
n
Strong understanding of the NCC, relevant Australian Standards and NSW building legislation in QLD and NSW.
n
Approvals and management across NSW and QLD
n
Experience with Occupation Certificates and residential certification.
n
Strong inspection, assessment and reporting skills.
n
Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work with builders, engineers, consultants and clients.
n
Strong attention to detail and sound judgement.
n
A practical, solutions-focused approach.
n
Ability to work independently while being part of a growing construction team.
