Job Description
The Specialist – Climate Governance and Sustainability Reporting plays a key role in strengthening MMG's climate governance, climate reporting and sustainability disclosure practices. The role leads the delivery of climate-related disclosures, risk and opportunity processes, sustainability reporting, assurance readiness and disclosure controls across MMG.

Working closely with internal stakeholders, the role translates complex climate and sustainability information into clear, accurate and evidence-based reporting and insights to support informed decision-making. The role also drives continuous improvement of reporting processes and controls, while working under the strategic direction and accountability of the Head of Sustainability.

We are pleased to advise that we are seeking a Specialist – Climate Governance and Sustainability Reporting, reporting to the Head of Sustainability, on a 1.5-year fixed-term contract. The role is based in Southbank, VIC.

Responsibilities:
n
Climate Governance and Reporting
n
n
Lead MMG's climate governance, reporting and disclosure processes.
n
Lead the delivery of climate-related disclosures and reporting requirements.
n
Interpret and implement evolving climate-related reporting requirements, ensuring alignment with applicable standards and obligations.
n
Drive continuous improvement of climate reporting processes, governance and assurance readiness.
n
n
Climate Risk and Business Integration
n
n
Lead the implementation of MMG's climate-related risk and opportunity processes.
n
Embed climate-related considerations into business planning, risk management and decision-making.
n
Provide climate-related insights to support governance, strategic discussions and informed decision-making.
n
n
Sustainability Reporting, Disclosure and Assurance
n
n
Lead the preparation and delivery of sustainability disclosures and reporting outputs.
n
Establish and maintain disclosure controls, evidence requirements and assurance processes.
n
Drive improvements in reporting quality, consistency,



accuracy and traceability.
n
n
Sustainability Governance and Continuous Improvement
n
n
Develop and implement sustainability governance processes, reporting obligations, frameworks and supporting documentation.
n
Monitor and assess emerging climate and sustainability reporting requirements and coordinate appropriate responses.
n
Contribute to the continuous improvement and evolution of MMG's sustainability governance and reporting framework.
n
n
Skills:
n
n
Strong capability in climate reporting, sustainability disclosure and governance.
n
Ability to interpret, implement and operationalise evolving climate-related reporting requirements.
n
Strong report writing, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
n
Strong governance, assurance and project delivery skills, with a focus on quality, accuracy and continuous improvement.
n
Ability to translate complex technical and climate-related information into clear, practical insights to support business decision-making.
n
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work across multiple priorities and stakeholders.
n

Knowledge:
n
n
Solid knowledge of climate-related disclosure frameworks and reporting requirements, including HKFRS S1 and S2.
n
Knowledge of climate-related risks and opportunities, scenario analysis, climate resilience and transition planning.
n
Understanding of sustainability reporting, disclosure controls, evidence requirements and assurance processes.
n
Understanding of how climate and sustainability considerations are integrated into risk management, business planning and decision-making.
n




Awareness of emerging climate and sustainability reporting obligations and frameworks, including TNFD and evolving disclosure requirements.
n
Understanding of the mining, resources or other complex operating environments is desirable.
n
n
Experience:
n
n
Minimum 7 years' relevant experience, with demonstrated expertise in climate reporting, sustainability disclosure and governance.
n
Experience leading or supporting climate-related reporting, sustainability reporting or external disclosure processes.
n
Experience interpreting, implementing and operationalising climate-related reporting requirements.
n
Experience preparing reports, disclosures, governance papers or assurance materials.
n
Experience working with climate-related risks and opportunities, scenario analysis or climate governance processes.
n
Experience in mining, resources, infrastructure or a similar complex operating environment preferred.
n
n
Education, Qualifications, Tickets, Licences:
n
n
Tertiary qualifications in sustainability, environmental science, engineering, economics, finance, business or a related discipline.
n
Additional training or experience in climate disclosure, sustainability reporting, governance or assurance desirable.
n
Additional language skills in Spanish, French and/or Chinese would be an advantage.
