As a Principal Platform Engineer, you will be at the forefront of our database
andDevSecOpsstrategy,
responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our database environments. You will play a key role in automating processes, enhancing security
throughDevSecOpspractices,
deploying monitoring tools, and maintaining high-quality documentation to ensure our infrastructure remains robust, resilient, and reliable.

The Role
n
This Principal Platform Engineer role is ahands-on technical leadership
positionspecialising
inbackup, restore, and cyber resilience within AWS. You will be accountable for thedesign and evolution of scalable, secure, and highly resilient backup platforms, with a strong focus onCommvault,AWS-native services, andair-gapped cyber recovery environments.

You will set technical direction, establish repeatable patterns, uplift engineering standards, and actively mentor other engineers across the DPSS and broader cloud platform community.

Key Responsibilities

Design and operateenterprise backup and restore
platformsusingCommvaulton
AWS
n
Engineerair-gapped and isolated recovery environmentsto support ransomware resilience
n
Build and optimiserestore strategies, including cross-account recovery
n
Develop AWS infrastructure
usinginfrastructure
as
codeandDevSecOpspractices
n
Work at expert level across AWS services includingS3, EC2,
RDS,CodeCommit,CodeBuild,CodeArtifact,GuardDuty,Wizand
others
n
Strengthensecurity,
reliability, and observabilityof backup and recovery platforms
n
Provide principal-level technical leadership, design assurance, and




mentoring,influencing
platform direction across multiple squads and crews
n
Partner closely with security and risk stakeholders to upliftcyber resilience, threat modelling, and recovery assurance
n
Design repeatable testing strategies for backup integrity, restore confidence, and disaster recovery scenarios
n
Mentor and uplift engineers through coaching, design reviews, and shared engineering patterns
n
Accelerate valuedeliveryand innovation by improving engineering velocitythrough the use ofAI
n
Contribute to strategic technical decisions, trade-offs, and long-term platform roadmaps
n

Strong experience withCommvault backup and restorein enterprise environments
n
Proven delivery ofair-gapped cyber backup or isolated recovery solutions
n
Deep AWS expertise, includingRDS snapshot-based recovery
n
Expert-level capability acrossAWS cloud, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code
n
Strong security mindset with experience
