Operations Technician – Landfill Services

We are seeking an experienced field technician to join our team and be responsible for the operations and maintenance of landfill gas and leachate collection systems, with a focus on leachate pump maintenance. Company Car provided.

Responsibilities
n
n
Conduct scheduled environmental monitoring of landfill gas collection systems
n
Gas collection system monitoring and balancing
n
Surface emissions monitoring
n
Out-of-waste bore monitoring
n
Conduct unscheduled maintenance of landfill gas collection systems
n
Conduct schedule and unscheduled maintenance of landfill gas flares
n
Conduct scheduled and unscheduled monitoring and maintenance of air operated leachate pumps
n
Report on operations performance, compliance and production results
n
Liaise with and report to customer site representatives
n
Liaise with and assist sub-contractors
n
Complying with the duty of care assigned under OH&S; legislation and demonstrate commitment to accident prevention
n
Observing all work instructions, procedures, safety codes of practice,



employer OH&S; and Environmental requirements and statutory rules and regulations
n
Wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment as require
n
Participate in safety, toolbox or other meetings where required
n
All other duties within competence, skill, qualifications and experience as directed
n
Working flexible work hours and in some unpleasant conditions
n
On-call requirement (roster) for response to landfill gas flare outages
n

Requirements
n
n
Waste/environmental
experience preferred but not essential
n
Valid Driver's license
n
n
Skills and Qualifications
n
n
Willingness to learn and develop
n
Ability to work outdoors and in unpleasant conditions
n
Good mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic machines including pumps, blowers, air compressors and plant instrumentation (trade background not essential)
n
Ability to follow instructions and use multiple environmental monitoring equipment
n
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
n
Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative
n
Ability to travel to multiple landfill sites
n
Reasonable computer skills, ability to navigate around internal company databases including Maintenance Management Systems and online systems
n
Good written and verbal communication skills.
n
Robust time management and organisational skills.
