About the Role
n
The Junior Accountant is responsible for supporting the Financial Controller in delivering accurate and timely financial records, with a primary focus on General Ledger integrity, Bank Reconciliations Management, General Cashier oversight, and the End-of-Month close process
n
Your key responsibilities:
n
Maintain and reconcile General Ledger accounts
n
Prepare and post journals for accruals, prepayments, and adjustments
n
Manage the End-of-Month close process including balance sheet reconciliation, ledger review, and reporting packs
n
Perform daily and monthly Bank Reconciliations, promptly identifying and resolving variances
n
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure aged balances are investigated and resolved.
n
Supervise cashiering activities including cash float management and reconciliation
n
Coordinate and execute End Of Month tasks
n
Internal Controls,



maintaining proper controls and procedures and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
n
Building and maintaining professional internal relationships
n
What you will bring to the role:
n
n
Proficiency with Opera Cloud, SunSystems accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
n
Understanding of bank reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and journal entry processes
n
Familiarisation with cash handling practices, including oversight of General Cashier operations and petty cash reconciliation
n
Exposure to end-of-month close processes, including accruals, prepayments, and preparation of financial schedules
n
Development of analytical and organisational skills in a dynamic hotel finance environment
n
Understanding of Australian accounting standards, internal controls, and statutory compliance relevant to the hospitality industry
n
Practical insight into hotel finance operations, including cross-departmental financial coordination
n
