We are seeking people who take pride in their work, value safety, enjoy working outdoors and are willing to learn.
Experience in civil construction is desirable, but it is not essential.
If you have a positive attitude, are dependable and keen to build a long term career we want to hear from you.
Working under the direction of the Urban Works Supervisor, you will contribute to the delivery and maintenance of essential infrastructure including kerb and gutter, footpaths, drainage systems and associated road components.
This role plays a key part in maintaining safe, functional and high-quality infrastructure for the Parkes Shire community.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to: Road construction and maintenance labouring, including tar patchingConcrete labouring including kerb and gutter, footpaths, road and drainage componentsInstallation and maintenance of signs and roadside furnitureTraffic control duties, including attainment and maintenance of required certificationOperate and maintain small plant and equipmentAssist with works survey set-outUndertake maintenance of Council assets and facilities as requiredComplete tasks as directed by the Supervisor in line with operational requirementsEnsuring all work complies with safety standards and proceduresMaintaining accurate records of work activitiesEngaging in team activities and contributing to a positive team environment Further information on the role is contained in the Position Description.
About You We are looking for people who: Have a strong work ethic and a positive attitudeAre reliable, punctual and take pride in doing a good jobEnjoy working outdoors and as part of a teamAre willing to learn new skills and undertake trainingValue safety and follow workplace proceduresHave good communication skills To Be Successful In This Position You Will Need Current and maintained Drivers Licence SafeWork NSW Construction induction (White Card)One year of relevant hands-on experience in a similar role or industry.
It will be highly favorable if you possess any of the following: Experience in civil construction or maintenanceAbility to use hand tools and operate small plant equipmentBasic literacy, numeracy and electronic device usage skills Benefits The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Parkes Shire Council's policies and conditions of employment.
The role has been evaluated as being Grade 2 of the Council's salary structure with a commencing salary of $55,****** ($***** to $***** per hour).
The commencing salary will be determined based on the qualifications, skills and experience of the successful candidate.
