Who We Are:
n
Yarrabah State School caters for an indigenous student population enrolled from Pre-prep to year 10 across three separate campuses within the community of Yarrabah in Far North Queensland.
n
A Special Education Unit supporting students across all campuses is located at the Primary campus with a specialist facility provided at the Secondary campus.
n
Yarrabah State School has been recognised as a Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Education and is committed to providing high quality education for all students with a focus on achievement and continuous improvement.
n
Through building positive, respectful relationships, you will provide practical support to students and families, helping to remove barriers to learning and promote successful educational outcomes.
n
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to creating a safe, inclusive and culturally responsive learning workplace where every student is known, valued and supported.
n
The successful applicant will demonstrate empathy,
initiative and a commitment to utilising trauma-informed practices to work collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, families and community members.
n
Responsibilities include:
n
n
Innovate data capture management systems and develop subsequent intervention strategies.
n
Build and sustain positive relationships with students, parents, community and elders, and provide input into local decision making to ensure optimum outcomes.
n
Liaise with families and conduct home visits to encourage school attendance and to motivate students.
n
Liaise with students and families to recognise any educational, social, emotional or behavioural issues.
n
Work within a team based management approach as a contact for students, families or community members regarding any concerns.
n
