About the Role
n
We are seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician to support ongoing capital upgrades and maintenance works at a major Alumina Smelter in Portland, Victoria.
n
This role will see you working across fixed plant, industrial electrical systems and site communications infrastructure, contributing to safe, reliable and efficient operations in a complex processing workplace.
n
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team supporting maintenance, breakdowns, shutdowns, and upgrade projects across critical plant areas.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
Perform electrical installation, commissioning, fault finding and repair on industrial plant & equipment
n
Install, terminate and test structured cabling systems (CAT6 / fibre where applicable)
n
Support communications infrastructure including network cabinets, patch panels, field devices and connectivity for control systems
n
Conduct inspections, testing and commissioning of LV/HV electrical systems and associated equipment
n
Assist with instrumentation tasks, including loop checks, device replacement and basic calibration where required
n
Diagnose faults across electrical, control and communications systems
n
Support multiple concurrent capital upgrade and brownfield installation projects
n
Work safely within a live processing environment adhering to permit systems, isolations (LOTO) and site procedures
n
Collaborate with engineering,
operations and other trades to ensure plant reliability and uptime
n

Complete accurate documentation, reports and compliance records
n
About You
n
n
Trade-qualified Electrician (A-Grade VIC licence or equivalent)
n
Demonstrated experience in heavy industrial environments such as alumina, mining, smelting, oil & gas, or manufacturing
n
Hands‐on experience with structured cabling (CAT5/6), fibre optics or industrial communications systems
n
Exposure to PLC/SCADA networks, industrial Ethernet, or control systems networking highly regarded
n
Solid technical knowledge of LV/HV systems, motors, drives and plant equipment
n
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, network layouts and P&IDs;
n
Strong troubleshooting capability across electrical and
data/communications
issues
n
Commitment to safety, quality and teamwork
n
Able to work in a fast-paced operational environment with competing priorities
n

Highly Regarded
n
n
Structured cabling systems Licence
n
Instrumentation exposure or dual trade (E&I;)
n
Experience in smelters, refineries or continuous processing plants
n
Working at Heights, Confined Space, EWPLVR/CPR, High Voltage switching (or willingness to obtain)
n
Experience with industrial networks (e.g. Profinet, Modbus, Ethernet/IP)
