Provide strategic policy advice that informs government decision-making
The Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) plays a central role in advising Government on economic, regulatory and commercial priorities.
The Economic Policy team is seeking a Senior Analyst to lead analysis and contribute to high-quality, evidence-based policy advice on major government initiatives, reforms and emerging issues impacting the Northern Territory.
About the role
As a Senior Analyst, you will lead the development of policy advice across a range of economic, regulatory and commercial matters.
You will work across government to analyse complex issues, provide strategic insights and support decision-making at a senior level.
You will be expected to exercise sound judgement, manage competing priorities and translate complex analysis into clear, practical advice.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading analysis of economic, regulatory and commercial policy issues
Developing high-quality policy advice, briefings and reports for senior stakeholders
Providing strategic input into government priorities and reform initiatives
Engaging with stakeholders across agencies and representing Treasury where required
Contributing to complex, cross-government projects and policy development
To be successful, you will bring:
Demonstrated experience providing evidence-based policy or advisory input in economic, regulatory or commercial environments within government or aligned sectors




The ability to think strategically and develop solutions to complex issues
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information clearly
Experience working across stakeholders and contributing to policy outcomes
The ability to operate independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
This role is not suited to candidates with a purely accounting or transactional finance background without experience in policy, strategy or advisory functions.
