The Role We're looking for an experienced Project Engineer / Transition Manager to join a Defence maritime program team in Cairns.
This is a great opportunity for a senior engineer to lead the transition of capability from acquisition into sustainment, working across engineering, project management, logistics and commercial disciplines.You'll act as a key point of contact between internal and external stakeholders, exercising delegated technical authority while supporting introduction-into-service milestones for a range of projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the transition of capability from acquisition projects into sustainmentLiaise with internal and external stakeholders, chairing and participating in project meetingsPrepare and contribute to project reports, plans and technical documentationParticipate in technical inspections and test activities, reviewing outcomes and making recommendationsExercise technical authority within allocated delegation, supporting design acceptance activities




RequiredCurrent NV1 security clearanceBachelor of Engineering (preferably Mechanical), with Chartered Professional Engineer status or ability to obtain within 3 monthsFamiliarity with introduction into service of Defence capabilities and Fundamental Inputs to CapabilityExperience with ASDEFCON-driven acquisitions, including technical/engineering and ILS elementsStrong written and verbal communication skills, with a preference for candidates based in Cairns
