About the roleWe are seeking an experienced Delicatessen Manager to join Spano Holdings Pty Ltd on a full time basis at our Mermaid Waters location in Queensland.
This is a key management position within our retail operations, where you will oversee the day-to-day running of our delicatessen department, ensuring excellent customer service, product quality, and team performance.
The Delicatessen Manager plays a vital role in driving sales, maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene, and creating a positive shopping experience for our customers.
Key responsibilities
Managing and supervising the delicatessen team, including recruitment, training, scheduling and performance management
Overseeing inventory management, stock rotation and ordering of delicatessen products to minimise waste and ensure product freshness
Maintaining strict food safety, hygiene and health standards in compliance with relevant legislation and company policies
Preparing and serving quality delicatessen products, including slicing, packaging and presentation to customer specifications
Driving sales performance and profitability of the delicatessen department through effective merchandising and customer engagement
Managing customer complaints and resolving issues professionally to ensure customer satisfaction
Maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of the delicatessen area, including equipment maintenance and stock displays
Communicating effectively with management and other departments to ensure smooth operations
Implementing promotional activities and product knowledge to maximise sales opportunities
Ensuring compliance with all company procedures, policies and statutory requirements
What we're looking for
Proven experience working as a delicatessen manager or in a similar supervisory role within a retail environment
Strong knowledge of delicatessen products, food preparation techniques and food safety standards




Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively
Excellent customer service skills and a commitment to delivering a positive shopping experience
Sound understanding of inventory management, stock control and cost management
Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment and manage multiple priorities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Attention to detail and high standards of personal hygiene
Flexibility to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays as required
Current or willingness to obtain relevant food handling qualifications and certifications
