Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company formed as a joint venture with Gindalbie Metals Limited.
Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China.
Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West.
It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.
The opportunityWe are looking for skilled and experienced Mechanical Fitters to become a part of our Maintenance team at the Geraldton Karara Export Terminal.
The position will encompass both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities, as well as assist in planning and defining the scope of work for maintenance tasks, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
This residential role operates on 8 days, and 6 days off / 7 days on and 7 days off roster.
**We are not accepting applications from overseas, this position is residential and requires candidates to be based in the Geraldton area** No visa sponsorship is available.

Elevated Work Platform (WP)Confined Space Entry & Working at heightsDemonstrated post trade experience in the Mining or Heavy industry within a process plant environmentStrong understanding of scheduled maintenance systems and work order processDemonstrated ability to undertake problem solving investigations and reviewsDemonstrated ability to plan work in line with predicted operational requirementsUnderstanding of generic process plant policies, procedures, risk assessment and management systemsNational Police clearance is required to obtain MSIC
Key Duties: Execute SAP work tasks including scheduled and unscheduled maintenanceRaise and document maintenance notifications for future corrective and preventive tasksRecord post-task comments highlighting improvement opportunitiesClose all work orders upon task completionPerform work per manufacturer specifications and quality standardsIdentify implement and communicate process improvementsPrioritize and plan daily workloads to meet deadlinesInspect and scope job requirements review plans and identify tool and equipment needs to ensure timely protected and cost-effective completionConduct risk assessments before maintenance identify hazards mitigate risks and complete safety documentationCollaborate with the planning team to develop maintenance scopes improving equipment availability reducing downtime and preventing failures
About Karara Export Terminal Enabling movement to the Karara Export Terminal at the Port of Geraldton, Karara owns and operates an 80 km railway linking Tilley Junction to the mine site in the Shire of Perenjori.
The terminal is capable of processing up to 16 million tonnes of export products annually from a dedicated berth, with supporting rail and train unloading infrastructure.
