Our client is a major meat processing plant in southern NSW. The plant is a modern, export-accredited facility processing thousands of head per day for domestic supermarket supply and international markets, and is a major employer in its region.
About the role
Ongoing opportunities exist for experienced Skilled Meat Workers to join the plant's slaughter floor and boning room teams. Skilled Meat Workers are cross-trained across slaughtering and boning duties, including:
Stunning and slaughtering livestock in accordance with animal welfare and food safety requirements
Removing carcasses and removing internal organs
Splitting and trimming carcasses to prepare them for boning
Cutting meat from bones and cutting joints from carcasses
Boning, slicing and trimming meat into standard cuts and preparing cuts for packing
Sharpening and maintaining knives and hand tools
Maintaining product quality and hygiene standards in a fast-paced, chilled workplace
You will need to be able to work up to 10-hour shifts,
be punctual, and have reliable transport to and from work. Some overtime is required in line with seasonal processing demand.
What you will need to demonstrate
A minimum qualification of AQF Certificate III in Meat Processing (or equivalent); and
A minimum of 2 years' skilled work experience at a meat processing establishment; or
A minimum of 9 months' work experience at an Australian meat processing establishment while the holder of a subclass 457 or 482 visa; or
A minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience at an Australian meat processing establishment, depending on employment and visa circumstances.
Other requirements
Pre-employment medical and drug screening will be conducted (required for export market compliance)
Physically demanding work in a chilled environment - a reasonable level of fitness is required
