Our client, Norwest Contracting, is seeking an experienced and capable Construction Project Manager to join their team in Karratha, Western Australia.
This is a key leadership position responsible for the successful delivery of specialist maintenance and construction projects across the Energy & Resources and commercial contracting environment.
The successful candidate will provide strong leadership across safety, client and stakeholder management, financial control, planning, project delivery and team performance, while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with Norwest's management systems and values.

About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager, the Construction Project Manager will take overall responsibility for the effective management and delivery of assigned projects.

The role will involve:
Providing leadership and overall responsibility for project safety performance
Implementing and maintaining Norwest's Safety Management System across projects
Managing formal project requirements, including client meetings, contracts and deliverables
Building and maintaining strong working relationships with clients and key stakeholders
Managing relationships with statutory authorities, utilities, unions and other project stakeholders
Monitoring project approvals and ensuring required actions are completed
Developing and implementing project procurement strategies
Providing leadership and oversight of project financial controls
Monitoring project costs, reporting and financial performance
Identifying project opportunities and managing commercial and operational risks




Ensuring accurate reporting, record keeping and financial administration
Establishing and monitoring project planning and management controls
Developing and monitoring project programs, including overall, medium-term and short-term planning
Identifying and managing key project planning, scheduling and time-related risks
Coordinating project requirements relating to safety, environment, stakeholders, HR/IR and risk management
Leading, motivating and managing project staff
Delegating responsibilities effectively to maximise productivity
Managing employee performance and providing constructive feedback
Supporting staff development and performance objectives
Ensuring company and project objectives are achieved
Developing and implementing project finalisation and commissioning plans
Ensuring projects are properly closed out and finalisation activities are completed
Conducting project lessons-learned workshops and identifying opportunities for future improvement
Identifying and documenting innovative methods and practices implemented during projects
Ensuring compliance with the Norwest Management System (NWMS)
Providing leadership to the project team to continually improve project delivery and company systems





Skills and Experience
To be successful in this position, you will have:
A minimum of 3-5 years' proven experience managing construction or maintenance projects, preferably within the Energy & Resources or commercial contracting environment
Demonstrated industry knowledge and experience in project delivery
Proven experience managing subcontractors and external contractors
Strong project management experience across planning, delivery, budgets and resources
Demonstrated experience in financial and cost management
Strong people leadership and team management skills
Experience monitoring and managing employee performance
Robust client and stakeholder management capabilities
Excellent organisational, planning and problem-solving skills
Ability to identify, manage and minimise project risks
Strong understanding of workplace health, safety and environmental requirements
Commitment to high standards of health, safety, security, environmental, community and ethical performance
Ability to delegate tasks effectively and maximise team productivity
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively with clients, subcontractors, employees and other stakeholders
Commitment to continuous improvement and best-practice project management

Qualifications
The successful applicant will ideally possess:
A relevant qualification in Construction, Project Management, Engineering, Business, a relevant trade or a related discipline, or equivalent experience accepted by the company
