About the role
This is a hands-on payroll position suited to someone who is confident managing the end-to-end payroll process, while also having the interpersonal and organisational skills to support and coordinate a small payroll team. You will provide hands-on payroll support to a team of approximately three payroll employees while also being responsible for the end-to-end processing of payroll. You will work closely with the payroll team and communicate extensively with the client's senior management team, providing guidance, resolving payroll matters and coordinating payroll activities.
Key responsibilities
- Processing end-to-end payroll, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.
- Managing all aspects of the payroll cycle, including data validation, payroll processing, reconciliations, reporting and finalisation.
- Providing day-to-day payroll support and guidance to a team of approximately three payroll employees.
- Coordinating the payroll team's activities to ensure processing deadlines and requirements are consistently met.
- Reviewing payroll processes and outputs to identify and resolve discrepancies or potential issues.
- Liaising directly with the client's senior management team regarding payroll matters, queries and requirements.
- Communicating complex payroll matters clearly and professionally to both management and employees.
- Supporting the team with payroll queries, problem-solving and more complex payroll issues.
- Ensuring payroll processes are completed accurately and in accordance with relevant legislation, awards, agreements and company requirements.
- Identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls and efficiencies.
About you
- A minimum of 1 year payroll experience.
- Demonstrated experience processing end-to-end payroll.
- A strong understanding of payroll processes and requirements.
- Experience supporting, coordinating or working closely with a payroll team.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Robust organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- The ability to explain complex payroll matters with patience, clarity and professionalism.
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Confidence communicating directly with senior management and other key stakeholders.
