- Salary Package: Level $127,138 - $150,425 p.a. (B.1 - B.6), plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading

Macquarie University is looking for an outstanding academic with an excellent track record of teaching and research in Artificial Intelligence. The successful applicant will be expected to develop, teach and convene units at the postgraduate and undergraduate levels, while supervising Higher Degree Research students as well as leading and collaborating on research projects.
We strongly encourage candidates with relevant teaching and research experience in one or more of the following areas to apply: Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Neural Networks, Generative AI, Large Language Models, and Applications of AI. Candidates with a strong research background in contemporary Artificial Intelligence are highly desirable.
The successful candidate will demonstrate an excellent track record in research and teaching, as well as personal and professional skills that can enable service and leadership contributions that will help to strengthen the impact and reputation of the School of Computing, Faculty of Science and Engineering, and Macquarie University.
About us
You will be joining a growing School of Computing in the Faculty of Science and Engineering with a fast-rising reputation (Ranked 48 in the world for Computer Science in the Academic Ranking of World Universities 2025, and ranked 101 in the world for Computing and Information Systems in the QS World University Rankings 2026). The School of Computing is currently the home of more than 60 academic staff and over 150 research students, and close to 3,500 undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students. The school offers a broad range of cutting edge undergraduate and postgraduate courses and enjoys a strong research ethos.
About You (Selection Criteria)
You are an emerging academic leader with a strong foundation in both research and teaching in Artificial Intelligence. You thrive in collaborative environments, are committed to scholarly teaching excellence,
and are motivated to build a nationally and internationally recognised research profile.
- A PhD in Computer Science or a closely related discipline, with a research focus in one or more areas of contemporary Artificial Intelligence
- Demonstrated commitment and capability in delivering high-quality, cutting-edge teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Artificial Intelligence
- A strong publication record in top-tier peer-reviewed journals and conferences (e.g., AAAI, NeurIPS, KDD, ICDM, ICDE, IJCAI, IEEE/ACM Transactions)
- Demonstrated teaching expertise in one or more of: Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Neural Networks, Generative AI, Large Language Models, or Applications of AI
- Proven ability to attract and supervise research students
- Demonstrated potential to attract nationally competitive and/or industry research grants
- High-level oral and written communication skills in English, with a proven ability to interact effectively with students, staff, and the community
- Experience engaging and collaborating effectively with industry (Desirable)
