The Role
Reporting to the Head of Programs, the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the planning and successful delivery of defence projects in the Maritime and integrated systems domains working with a variety of defence and defence industry agencies. This role focuses predominantly on "below the line" activities with a strong emphasis on technology and capability delivery acquisition, encompassing the full project management lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- - Lead cross-functional project teams and manage all project activities and risks to ensure objectives and outcomes are met.
- Monitor and manage project performance across all key metrics, including schedules, budgets, risk mitigation, and quality.
- Develop costs, proposals, and plans for Contract Change Proposals (CCPs).
- Create contemporary and competitive delivery strategies for bids and tender submissions.
- Engage and collaborate with customers to deliver tangible value in support of their key organisational objectives.
- Promote continuous improvement and contribute to a culture of excellence.
- Manage stakeholder relationships, utilising influence and negotiation skills to achieve the most positive outcome.
- Drive results by showing initiative and achieving results reliably, with broad perspective, pragmatism and persistence
The Person
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Project Manager with a proven track record of delivering highly complex, compliance-focused projects, particularly within the Maritime and Defence Space. With strong business acumen and a team-oriented leadership style,
you will be experienced in delivering project outcomes in complex environments for our customers.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- - Demonstrated experience managing complex projects to successful and timely completion.
- 5+ years of experience operating as a Project Manager.
- A tertiary qualification in Project Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional Project Management certification (e.g., PMP,AIPM, PRINCE2, MSP, or similar).
- Demonstrated experience in "below the line” (Supplier side) or acquisition project management.
- Ability to analyse and interpret project performance against agreed plans and develop strategies to achieve outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability in planning, preparing and transition successful CCPs or tenders into executable programs
- Experience preparing professional correspondence, briefs, and reports for internal and external audiences.
- Ability to interpret and ensure compliance with legislative, policy, and regulatory frameworks.
- Eligibility to obtain Australian Government Security Clearances (Baseline, NV1, NV2).
