Country Connect Foundation is seeking experienced, reliable and motivated Support Workers and Senior Support Workers to join our growing casual workforce across the Northern Territory.

We have opportunities for Darwin-based FIFO workers, as well as applicants who are already based in or around the remote communities where we operate, including:

Tiwi Islands | Ramingining | Nhulunbuy | Galiwin’ku | Jabiru | Gapuwiyak

These positions will initially commence on a casual basis, with opportunities for suitable team members to progress into ongoing or permanent positions as vacancies and operational needs arise.

Country Connect Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation providing wellbeing, disability and youth services across remote and regional communities. Our approach is centred around providing culturally safe support and connecting people to country, culture and community.

About the roles

No two days in remote support work are quite the same.

As a Support Worker, you will work alongside our local and remote teams to provide practical, person-centred support that helps people build independence, participate in their community and stay connected with family, culture and country.

Depending on the program and the needs of the people you support, your work may include:

- Supporting people with everyday activities, personal care and daily living

- Community access and participation

- Supporting trips, activities and Return to Country initiatives

- Supporting people to spend time with family and participate in community events

- Youth mentoring and support within residential programs

- Meal preparation, shopping and household activities

- Getting out bush and participating in outdoor and community-based activities

- Supporting people to develop skills, confidence and independence

- Completing accurate shift notes, incident reports and other client documentation

- Working collaboratively with local staff, families and other community stakeholders.

Our Support Workers are expected to provide individualised support that promotes independence, inclusion and community participation while maintaining professional boundaries and accurate records.

Senior Support Worker opportunities

We are also looking for experienced applicants who are ready to take on additional responsibility as Senior Support Workers.

Senior Support Workers remain actively involved in hands-on support while providing additional leadership, mentoring and guidance to the team.

Depending on the program,



this may include:

- Mentoring and supporting Support Workers

- Helping staff understand individual client needs and support requirements

- Supporting Coordinators and Operations Managers with day-to-day operations

- Assisting with rostering and shift coverage

- Supporting staff with reporting, timesheets and record keeping

- Assisting with incident management and operational issues

- Providing leadership and guidance when a Coordinator is unavailable

- Leading by example in relation to documentation, safety, skilled conduct and quality of support.

Senior Support Workers do not ordinarily have direct reports, but provide direction and support to more junior staff and may undertake Coordinator responsibilities when required.

FIFO & locally based remote opportunities

We are recruiting for a mix of FIFO and locally based remote positions.

For FIFO applicants, positions will generally be Darwin-based, with travel to remote communities according to operational requirements. Applicants must be comfortable travelling by light aircraft and/or 4WD, working away from home and living and working in remote environments for rostered periods. Remote travel by 4WD or light aircraft is also identified within the Senior Support Worker position requirements.

About you

Remote support work isn't for everyone. We're looking for people who genuinely enjoy working with others, can build strong relationships and are comfortable adapting to the realities of living and working in remote communities.

You'll be someone who is:

- Reliable, consistent and able to work independently

- Calm and adaptable in changing or challenging situations

- Respectful and comfortable working within cross-cultural environments

- A strong communicator and team player

- Practical, proactive and willing to get involved

- Able to maintain professional boundaries

- Comfortable travelling and spending extended periods away from home if applying for FIFO work

- Committed to culturally safe, person-centred support

- Able to work collaboratively with local staff, families and community members.

For Senior Support Worker applicants,



we're particularly interested in people who demonstrate robust leadership, professionalism, administration and record-keeping skills and who are confident mentoring and supporting others.

The Senior Support Worker position requires at least one year's relevant experience or significant cultural knowledge and input into the program.

Essential requirements

To be considered for these opportunities, applicants must have:

- Permanent working rights in Australia – sponsorship is not available for these vacancies

- Current driver's licence

- Working with Children Clearance / Ochre Card, or ability to obtain

- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, or ability to obtain

- Current First Aid and CPR, or ability to obtain

- Relevant experience in disability support, youth work, aged care, community services or a related field.

The current Support Worker position description requires an Ochre Card and NDIS Worker Screening Clearance prior to commencement.

Experience working or living in remote communities, First Nations communities, trauma-informed environments or complex support settings will be highly regarded.
