Role Description:

Working with our Surface Ships line of business support the Hunter Class Frigate Program, this role supports the delivery of Estimating & Pricing (E&P;) activities that enable the Line of Business to achieve its strategic and financial objectives. You will contribute to activities including strategic pricing, estimating, cost modelling, planning, and the development, review, and analysis of cost estimates.

The role is responsible for providing accurate and insightful analysis to inform decision-making, including supporting major project Estimate at Complete (EAC) reviews and broader business performance assessments. You will work closely with stakeholders to ensure estimates are robust, assumptions are understood, and outcomes are aligned with business and project requirements.

Drawing on strong analytical and problem-solving skills, you will help address estimating and pricing challenges while considering the broader financial, project, and customer impacts of proposed solutions. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with complex data, providing meaningful insights, and contributing to successful project and business outcomes.

Core Duties:

- Support the development and delivery of bids, proposals, and estimating activities in collaboration with bid teams and key stakeholders.
- Assist in the preparation, review, and analysis of cost estimates, pricing models, Basis of Estimates (BoEs), and customer pricing submissions.
- Contribute to the preparation of estimate reviews, management reports, phase reviews, and financial inputs to support informed decision-making.
- Maintain pricing tools, cost models, and supporting documentation while ensuring all estimating and pricing activities comply with E&P; processes, quality standards, Commonwealth cost principles, and internal financial and governance requirements. Proactively identify, escalate,



and support the resolution of issues that may impact pricing integrity, compliance, or business outcomes
- Review estimate assumptions, cost data, and supporting information to help maintain the accuracy, integrity, and traceability of proposal pricing.
- Support the assessment of risks, uncertainties, and commercial considerations within estimates and pricing proposals.
- Assist with pricing negotiations, contract change proposals, and customer financial reviews as required.
- Maintain comprehensive audit trails and pricing records from initial estimates through to contract award and project commencement.
- Support project start-up activities by assisting with the transition of negotiated pricing into project budgets and financial controls.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, process enhancements, and capability development within the E&P; function.
- About You:

- Experience in estimating, pricing, cost analysis, financial modelling, or other analytical roles requiring strong attention to detail.
- Understanding of bid and proposal development processes, with exposure to supporting tender responses and customer submissions.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and interpret cost models, analyse data, and provide insights to support decision-making.
- Knowledge of estimating methodologies and cost estimation principles, with the ability to apply structured analytical approaches.
- Awareness of government contracting environments and associated compliance, governance, and reporting requirements is desirable.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely.
- Tertiary qualifications, trade qualifications, or equivalent experience in business, finance, engineering, project management, or business support functions in Defence and/or related industries is desirable
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, with the ability to develop and analyse cost models, estimates, and pricing data. Experience with estimating and pricing tools such as ProPricer or equivalent platforms is desirable.
