About the role
The Legislative Services Directorate is at the forefront of legislative change in the State and is regarded as a leading agency in the provision of high quality and precise policy advice and drafting instructions. The justice portfolio encompasses criminal and civil justice and corrective services policy reform. The Directorate has extensive corporate knowledge and experience in delivering on complex policy projects to support the Attorney General and Minister for Corrective Services as part of their legislative reform agendas.
The Directorate has three work streams: development and drafting of legislation; implementation of legislation; and review of legislation. Current vacancies relate to the development and drafting of legislation only. The successful applicant will demonstrate the capability to achieve the key deliverables outlined in the Job Description Form.

Suitability Requirements
Through the recruitment process, we will be looking for candidates who can demonstrate the skills, experience and attributes in relation to the following:
1. Legislative Reform and Drafting
Demonstrated experience in developing, drafting and progressing legislation and legislative amendments.
1. Legislative Research and Analysis
Ability to undertake complex legal and policy research and analysis to inform legislative development and decision-making.
1. High-Level Ministerial and Parliamentary Documentation
Experience preparing drafting instructions, Cabinet submissions, Second Reading Speeches, parliamentary briefings and other high-quality legislative documentation.
1. Stakeholder Management and Consultation
Ability to engage and negotiate effectively with Ministers' offices, Parliamentary Counsel, government agencies and other stakeholders to achieve legislative outcomes.

Permanent, fixed term, full time and part time appointments may be offered at Perth Metropolitan area during this period.
