Senior Payroll Officer

- Full - Time Ongoing Position
- Malvern Location | Hybrid role.
- Immediate start available for the right candidate.

In this exciting opportunity as a Senior Payroll Officer at mecwacare, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of accurate, timely and compliant fortnightly payroll services for 4300+ staff across the organisation. Working as part of a cooperative Payroll team, you will be responsible for processing payroll transactions, maintaining accurate employee records, validating payroll data, responding to employee enquiries and ensuring payroll activities are completed in accordance with organisational policies, relevant Awards, legislative requirements and payroll deadlines. You will contribute to maintaining payroll data integrity, supporting continuous process improvements and delivering a high standard of customer service to employees across the organisation.

About you:

You are a detail-oriented and customer-focused payroll professional who is committed to delivering accurate, confidential and high-quality payroll services. As a valued member of the Payroll team, you have experience processing payroll within a medium to large organisation and are confident using payroll or HRIS systems to manage payroll information efficiently. You possess a sound understanding of payroll principles and demonstrate strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Your strong communication skills enable you to respond effectively to employee payroll enquiries while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Experience within the aged care sector, knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, Awards and Certified Agreements, and experience using HRIS will be highly regarded. About you:





- Experience working in the Aged Care Industry in a high volume/fast paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate Payroll/HR data, systems and records.
- Demonstrated accountability for processing fortnightly payroll cycles.
- Demonstrated the ability to process the remittance of payroll deductions for Payday Super, Child Support, and garnishee orders.
- Supported with payroll reconciliations, reporting and month-end and year end activities including STP lodgement.
- Undertaken payroll projects.
- Processed payroll adjustments, terminations, redundancies, leave payments and other manual calculations.
- Extracted and provided necessary payroll related reports as and when requested.

What you bring:

- Sound understanding of Certified Agreement and Awards.
- Solid understanding of basic payroll principles.
- Comprehensive knowledge of salary packaging and superannuation requirements.
- Proven ability to work accurately and within deadlines, to operate with minimal guidance and supervision, and to show initiative as appropriate.
- Demonstrated skills in administrations, computer literacy, prioritising tasks and time management.
- Good communication and customer-service skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of the importance of confidentiality and privacy.
- Competence in Microsoft Office Suite.

Desirable:

- Experience with Chris21 or 2Cloudnine as a payroll system.
- Experience working with relevant healthcare / aged care modern awards such as the SCHADS award.
- Respond to employee payroll queries in a timely and professional manner.




- Provide information on payslips, leave balances, tax forms, and payroll policies.
- Knowledge of Australian payroll legislation (Fair Work Act, ATO requirements, superannuation).
