Freedom Fuels is growing, evolving and investing in how we operate. We’re looking for an Accounts Payable / Finance Officer to join our Finance team and play an important role in keeping our financial operations accurate, timely and efficient.

This is a role that goes beyond simply processing invoices. You’ll be involved across accounts payable, reconciliations, supplier and account management, banking and retail transactions, working closely with Finance and teams across the business to make sure our financial information is accurate, and our payments are made on time.

What you’ll do

- Manage the end-to-end processing of supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and payment within established deadlines.

- Create and maintain supplier records, ensuring database integrity and compliance with company guidelines.

- Work with the Finance team to ensure invoices and supplier accounts are managed in line with budgets and agreed processes.

- Perform and document accounts payable, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring balances accurately reflect the company’s financial position.

- Manage supplier and creditor queries and maintain accurate records of communications and outstanding items.

- Assist with the management of Petroleum and Convenience Agent / Franchisee accounts.

- Assist with the management and reconciliation of merchant provider accounts.

- Maintain accurate and timely daily bank reconciliations.

- Manage EFTPOS transactions from retail sites, ensuring cash is collected and outstanding items are investigated and reconciled.

- Prepare reports and provide general accounting support to the Finance team.

- Maintain accurate electronic and physical records of invoices and financial documentation.





- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy.

- Support the Finance team to meet deadlines, targets and day-to-day operational requirements.

About you

You’re organised, analytical and naturally detail focused. You’re comfortable working with numbers and systems, but you also enjoy investigating discrepancies and figuring out what’s sitting behind the numbers.

You’ll bring:

- 2–3 years' experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping, accounting or a similar finance role, ideally in a high-volume environment.

- Experience performing bank, balance sheet and accounts payable reconciliations.

- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

- Excellent data entry skills and the ability to manage a high volume of transactions efficiently.

- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines and manage competing priorities.

- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

- Good communication skills and the confidence to work with Finance, suppliers and stakeholders across the business.

- A practical, analytical approach to investigating discrepancies and resolving problems.

- A proactive mindset and willingness to contribute to improving processes and ways of working.

- Experience in fuel, retail, logistics, energy or another operational environment will be highly regarded.
