About the role

Upendo Foods is seeking an experienced Cook to join our busy fish and chips shop in Tingalpa, QLD 4173. This is a full-time position where you will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality fish, chips and other menu items to consistently high standards. You will play a vital role in delivering exceptional customer experiences through your culinary skills and attention to detail. This position is essential to our operations and requires someone who is passionate about food preparation and maintaining health and safety standards.

What you'll be doing

- Preparing and cooking fresh fish and chips using established recipes and cooking techniques

- Operating and maintaining all cooking equipment, including deep fryers, grills and other kitchen appliances

- Ensuring all dishes are prepared to the correct specifications and presented to the highest standards

- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the cooking area and kitchen workspace

- Following all health, safety and food hygiene regulations at all times

- Managing cooking times and temperatures to ensure food safety and quality

- Assisting with inventory management and reporting on stock levels

- Working effectively as part of a team during busy service periods

- Contributing to menu consistency and food quality across all shifts

What we're looking for

- Proven experience working as a cook, ideally in a fast-food or casual dining environment

- Experience cooking fish, chips and fried foods to a high standard

- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices,



including food handling certifications (Australian Food Safety Supervisor Certificate preferred)

- Proficiency in operating commercial kitchen equipment such as deep fryers and grills

- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak service times

- Excellent time management and organisational skills

- Ability to follow recipes and cooking procedures consistently

- A collaborative approach to working with team members

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality

- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required
