The Australian Sports Turf Managers Association (ASTMA) is the national peak body representing Australia's sports turf management industry. Our members manage and maintain many of Australia's most recognised sporting venues, including golf courses, AFL, NRL and cricket grounds, stadiums, racecourses, schools and community sporting facilities.
We're looking for an organised, motivated and customer-focused Events Assistant to join our team in Clayton. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone looking to build or further develop a career in event management, conference coordination, event administration or project coordination while working alongside an experienced Events Manager delivering National and State events throughout Australia.
Working across a diverse calendar of state and national conferences, education programs, networking events and member functions, no two weeks are the same.

About the Role
Supporting the Events Manager, you will assist in the planning, coordination, administration and delivery of ASTMA's national and state events, including Australia's premier National Sports Turf Management Conference.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working across all aspects of event management—from planning and logistics through to onsite event delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Events Manager in coordinating conferences and events from planning through to successful delivery
- Assist with event planning, scheduling and project coordination
- Liaise with venues regarding catering, room layouts, accommodation, timings, guest numbers and event logistics
- Coordinate suppliers including AV providers, partners, entertainment and venue contractors
- Support event setup and onsite operations
- Act as a key contact for members, delegates, exhibitors and suppliers during major events
- Provide administrative support across the Association's events portfolio
About You
You are a highly organised and proactive person who enjoys delivering outstanding customer experiences and thrives in a collaborative team environment.
You'll ideally bring:
- Experience coordinating or assisting with conferences, events or functions
- Robust administration, organisational, written and communication skills
- EventsAir event management software (desirable)
- Exceptional attention to detail
- The ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines
- Confidence working with stakeholders, suppliers and venues
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
Desirable Experience

- Conference and event management
- Association or not-for-profit organisations
- Exhibitions, events and trade shows
Travel
Some interstate travel will be required throughout the year to support ASTMA's major conferences, education programs and member events.

- Permanent Part-Time Position - 22.5 hours per week (3 days per week)
