Trader House

Melbourne

One of Australia’s most established hospitality groups, Trader House, is looking for an experienced Group Marketing Manager to lead the marketing function, team and delivery across our diverse portfolio of venues and brands.

About us

Trader House is a collection of Melbourne and Brisbane’s most distinctive restaurants, bars and specialty food stores, led by chef, author and columnist Andrew McConnell and photographer Jo McGann.

Our Melbourne venues include Gimlet, Côte Basque, Apollo Inn, Cutler, Supernormal, Cumulus Inc., Marion, Builders Arms Hotel, Meatsmith and Morning Market—with Stokehouse, St Kilda joining the group in October 2026. In Brisbane, you’ll find Supernormal and Bar Miette.

Join a team shaping Australia’s hospitality culture across exceptional venues, each with its own identity and a shared commitment to great food, genuine service and memorable experiences.

About the role

The Group Marketing Manager is responsible for leading the marketing team and turning priorities and ideas into thoughtful, well-planned and well-executed work across Trader House.

This is a leadership role with a strong emphasis on setting priorities, enabling the team and creating the structure required to deliver great work. You’ll lead and develop the marketing team, establish effective ways of working, manage the group marketing calendar and ensure campaigns and projects move from brief to delivery with clear ownership, realistic timelines and a consistently high standard.

You’ll bring creativity and ideas to the role, contributing to campaigns, partnerships and opportunities that strengthen our brands and connect them with their audiences. Just as importantly, you’ll know how to turn a good idea into something achievable—bringing clarity to the brief, assembling the right people and resources, and guiding the work through to delivery.

Working closely with senior leadership, venue teams and external partners, you’ll balance the needs of multiple brands and stakeholders,

make considered decisions about where the team should focus its time and ensure people have the direction, support and resources they need to do their best work.

You’ll bring a strong eye and high standards for creative execution, ensuring everything we put into the world feels considered, distinctive and right for the brand.

What you’ll bring

- Strong experience leading a marketing function or team in a fast-paced, multi-brand environment

- A proven ability to lead, develop and motivate people, setting clear expectations while building capability, confidence and accountability

- Creativity and curiosity, with the ability to generate ideas and identify opportunities that build brands, engage customers and support the business

- Exceptional marketing operations and project management skills, with the ability to turn priorities into structured plans and reliable delivery

- Strong prioritisation skills and the judgement to determine where the team’s time, energy and resources will have the greatest impact

- Confidence managing a busy marketing calendar across multiple brands, campaigns, channels and stakeholders

- The ability to establish effective workflows, briefing processes, timelines, reporting and ways of working that enable the team to perform at its best

- Strong aesthetic judgement and a great eye, with the ability to recognise excellent creative work and maintain a consistently high standard of execution across brands and channels

- Robust commercial judgement and an ability to balance brand ambition with business priorities

- A natural relationship builder,

with the ability to develop and nurture strong, long-term relationships with brand, community and commercial partners

- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to work across venue teams, senior leaders and external partners

- A strong understanding of brand and customer experience, combined with the operational discipline required to execute consistently

- A calm, practical and solutions-focused approach when priorities shift or deadlines compete

- The judgement to know when to empower and delegate, when to provide direction and when to get closer to the work to ensure a great outcome

Experience in hospitality, lifestyle, retail or another multi-site consumer business would be highly regarded.

What you can expect

- The opportunity to lead marketing across a portfolio of some of Melbourne’s most recognised hospitality brands

- A role with genuine influence over how the marketing function operates and delivers

- The opportunity to build strong systems, processes and rhythms that make great marketing easier to execute

- A talented team to lead, coach and develop

- Close collaboration with senior leaders and experienced operators across the group

- A varied portfolio of brand, restaurant, retail, events and partnership activity

- Support and development within an established and evolving hospitality group

This is an opportunity for a marketing leader who gets satisfaction not only from great ideas, but from creating the conditions for great work to happen. You’ll bring focus to a complex environment, give your team clarity and momentum, and ensure Trader House continues to deliver thoughtful, creative and distinctive marketing across the group.

We’re looking for someone who combines creativity, great taste and high standards with pragmatism; who understands that strong marketing depends on great people, clear priorities and disciplined execution.
