About the program

The StrokeLink program is part of Stroke Foundation's Health Service Improvement workstream and plays a critical role in improving the quality of stroke care across Australia. The program ensures health professionals working in stroke care understand and apply evidence-based care through education, quality improvement initiatives, performance monitoring, and access to clinical resources.​

StrokeLink is the key connection between Stroke Foundation and health services delivering stroke care. Working in partnership with Queensland Health's Queensland Stroke Clinical Network (QSCN), Health Improvement Unit (HIU), health services and health professionals, the program focuses on improving stroke treatment and care, supporting quality improvement activities, and increasing engagement with Stroke Foundation programs and resources.

About the role

Reporting to the Quality Improvement Manager, the StrokeLink Coordinator QLD is part of the national quality improvement team and will focus on supporting underperforming stroke services across Queensland.

This role works collaboratively with health professionals, hospital leaders, quality improvement teams and key stakeholders to enhance stroke care through education, stakeholder engagement, quality improvement activities and implementation of evidence-based practice. The position also supports statewide and national stroke improvement initiatives in partnership with Queensland Health and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

- Engage with health professionals from acute and rehabilitation stroke services across Queensland.
- Build strong relationships with hospital leaders, clinical champions and quality improvement teams.
- Deliver targeted support to health services, including quality improvement workshops, local education sessions and improvement planning activities.
- Support the development,



implementation and monitoring of quality improvement action plans.
- Partner with Queensland Health to support statewide stroke improvement initiatives, including national stroke targets and Stroke Centre Certification activities.
- Facilitate connections between underperforming and high-performing services to encourage knowledge sharing and improvement.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of professional development opportunities for health professionals.
- Promote Stroke Foundation programs, resources and services to health professionals and consumers.
- Represent Stroke Foundation at conferences, forums, events and stakeholder networks.
- Assist with reporting requirements and other activities relevant to service delivery.

Your background, skills and experience

- ​Tertiary qualification in nursing or a relevant allied health discipline, including: Social Work, Clinical Psychology, Speech Pathology, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics or equivalent health-related qualification.​

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to influence and support system and clinical practice change.
- Strong facilitation, education and presentation skills.
- Ability to quickly build rapport, assess needs and provide practical advice and support.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and organisations.




- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and solve complex problems.
- High proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Experience working within the Australian healthcare system, particularly hospital settings.
- Experience supporting quality improvement initiatives and improving patient care outcomes.
- Experience developing and implementing projects, plans or improvement initiatives.
- Experience managing or working with volunteers and diverse stakeholder groups will be highly regarded
- Essential knowledge in:
- Stroke treatment and care, particularly in clinical settings.
- Australian healthcare and community service systems.
- Quality improvement methodologies and approaches.
