Compass Allied Health

Tamworth

About us

Compass Allied Health is a locally owned allied health service based in Tamworth, regional NSW. Our multidisciplinary team includes Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech Pathologists and Exercise Physiologists who work together to support people across the lifespan with neurological and physical disabilities.

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join our team and work alongside our existing Senior OT to help lead and develop our growing Occupational Therapy team.

This is a hands-on clinical leadership role for an OT who still enjoys working with clients, but also wants the opportunity to mentor other therapists, contribute to clinical direction and have a genuine say in how the OT service continues to develop.

You won't be stepping into the role alone. You'll work closely with our existing Senior OT and broader senior leadership team, sharing clinical leadership and helping create a supportive environment for both experienced and early-career clinicians.

The role

The role combines a manageable clinical caseload with dedicated time for mentoring, leadership and service development.

Your clinical work can be shaped around your experience and interests and may include adults and/or children with neurological and physical disabilities across clinic, home and community settings.

As a Senior OT, you'll:

- Work alongside our existing Senior OT to provide clinical leadership to the OT team

- Mentor and support Occupational Therapists at different stages of their careers

- Provide clinical guidance and support with complex cases

- Help develop clinical resources, systems and service pathways

- Support the professional development of the OT team

- Contribute to multidisciplinary clinical discussions and service planning

- Help maintain a positive, supportive and high-quality clinical culture

- Maintain your own manageable clinical caseload

- Have genuine input into the future direction and growth of Occupational Therapy at Compass

We don't expect our senior clinicians to spend their entire week managing people. You'll still have plenty of prospect to work clinically while having dedicated time to support the team and contribute to the bigger picture.

About you

We're looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist who is confident clinically, approachable and enjoys helping other clinicians develop.

You don't necessarily need to have held a formal leadership title before. You might already be the person colleagues come to for advice, enjoy mentoring students or junior clinicians, or be ready to take the next step into a more senior role.

You'll need:

- A recognised Occupational Therapy qualification

- Current AHPRA registration

- Experience working as an Occupational Therapist

- Strong clinical reasoning and communication skills

- An interest in mentoring and developing other clinicians

- Current Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain one

- Satisfactory Police Check

- Current First Aid and CPR

- Current Driver Licence

Experience working with neurological or physical disability would be highly regarded.

Why join Compass?

A genuine senior role
This isn't simply a full clinical caseload with a "Senior" title attached to it. You'll have dedicated time to mentor clinicians,

contribute to service development and help shape the direction of our OT team.

Shared leadership
You'll work alongside our existing Senior OT rather than carrying responsibility for the discipline on your own. We want our senior clinicians to collaborate, share ideas and play to their individual strengths.

A manageable clinical workload
We deliberately avoid overloading calendars. Your caseload will be structured to allow time for clinical work, mentoring, leadership responsibilities and admin.

A purpose-built clinical environment
Our Tamworth clinic includes dedicated consultation rooms, adult neurorehabilitation and paediatric gym spaces, therapy resources and a large shared team area. We also provide home and community services, with optional rural outreach opportunities.

A strong multidisciplinary team
You'll work alongside experienced senior clinicians across OT, Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology and Exercise Physiology, with plenty of opportunity for informal collaboration and multidisciplinary problem solving.

Professional development
We provide a $1,500 annual professional development allowance, regular internal education and in-services, and support senior clinicians to continue developing both their clinical and leadership skills.

Competitive remuneration + additional leave
We offer an above-award salary that reflects your experience and the senior responsibilities of the role, plus 6 additional paid leave days each year.

Everything you need to do your job
Laptop, phone, therapy resources and work bags are provided, along with access to company vehicles for work-related travel.

A team that actually spends time together
Monthly subsidised team lunches, regular social events and a workplace where senior clinicians are accessible and collaboration happens naturally.
