GAME Traffic & Contracting is seeking an experienced and motivated Grounds Maintenance Leading Hand to join our team in Shepparton. This hands-on leadership role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in delivering high-quality grounds maintenance services, and can effectively lead and support a crew in a safe and productive work environment.
About the Role:
As a Grounds Maintenance Leading Hand, you will be responsible for leading a team across a variety of commercial, government, and community sites while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Our teams undertake a wide range of grounds maintenance activities including:
- Mowing, turf maintenance, and brush cutting/edging
- Pruning and vegetation management
- Weed control and spraying
- General grounds and site clean-up
- Operating and maintaining grounds maintenance equipment
Along with the Grounds Maintenance activities, as Leading Hand you will also:
- Coordinate daily work activities and allocate tasks
- Conduct vehicle, machinery and site pre-start checks
- Ensure staff are wearing appropriate PPE and following safety procedures
- Complete site risk assessments, monitor safety compliance and report incidents or hazards
- Act as the primary contact on-site for customers
- Monitor work quality and team productivity
- Train and support new and existing team members
- Ensure all works are completed in accordance with GAME procedures and safety standards
- Managing staff breaks and monitoring fatigue to maintain a protected work environment.
What We're Looking For:
- Previous Leading Hand, Team Leader, or supervisory experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, horticulture, or a similar field
- Current Manual Driver's Licence
- White Card (or equivalent)
- Working with Children's Check (or willing to obtain)
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Chemical User's Permit (desirable)
- Chainsaw Ticket (desirable)
