About the role
ACRS Community Service is seeking a dedicated support worker to provide comprehensive assistance to individuals with disabilities. You will deliver personalised care and support tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual, fostering independence, dignity, and inclusivity.
Key responsibilities
- Provide support with daily activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication management, and mobility assistance, tailored to the individual's needs and preferences
- Offer companionship, empathy, and encouragement to promote emotional well-being and mental health
- Advocate for the rights and interests of individuals with disabilities, ensuring they access necessary resources, services, and opportunities
- Assist in developing life skills, independence, and social integration through training and guidance
- Maintain clear and respectful communication with individuals, their families, caregivers, and other support professionals to ensure coordinated care and effective teamwork
- Ensure a secure environment by identifying and mitigating risks, implementing safety protocols, and responding promptly to emergencies
- Accurately document observations, interventions, and progress reports according to organisational guidelines and legal requirements
- Facilitate participation in community activities, outings, and events to foster social connections and inclusion
About you
- Minimum 3 years experience in disability sector
- Experience with high intensity care
- Experience with Dementia participant or Huntington Disease
- Ability to handle complex behaviour clients
- PEG Feed experience (preferable)
- Hoist Transfer experience (preferable)
- Full driver's licence and willing to drive wheelchair accessible van
- Relevant qualifications such as a Certificate III or IV in Disability Support or equivalent, and/or prior experience in disability support or a related field
- Current First Aid/CPR Certificates
- Current NT Driver's License with experience in driving wheelchair-accessible van
- Current Working with Children's Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check
- National Police Certificate
- Legal working rights in Australia
- Based in Darwin or clear plan to relocate to Darwin
