About the role
The successful applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the cropping program, persistent of rain grown crops - sorghum, forage, hays, corn silage, as well as the operation and maintenance of plant and machinery, at our property located approximately 240 km south of Darwin.
Key responsibilities
- Overseeing general farm operations
- Managing and coordinating 4-5 farm staff and contractors
- Machinery and equipment operation and maintenance
- Property maintenance and infrastructure
- Planning and completing seasonal farming activities
- Maintaining a safe and productive working environment
- General farm duties as required
- Reporting to the directors
- Crop budgeting and planning working in with cattle manager
- Looking after approximately 4,000ha mixed cropping and new developing country
- Organising crop rotation
- Hay,
Grain and Silage Production
- Farm Planning layout, cropping rotational programs
- Working with advanced agronomist
About you
- Minimum 5 year experienced in a farm management or senior agricultural role
- Knowable in John Deer Opps Centre and Green Star
- Practical, reliable and hardworking
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- A confident machinery operator and willing to teach others
- Committed to maintaining strict maintenance schedules
- Comfortable living and working in a remote station environment
- Well-organised with a solid attention to detail
- Enjoy days off while fishing in the Daly River and camping
