At Treehouse Queanbeyan, we believe occupational therapy should be about more than completing assessments and ticking boxes. We are looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our growing multidisciplinary team and work alongside children with disability, developmental delay and neurodiverse needs. This is an prospect to practise OT in a supportive, collaborative environment where your clinical expertise is valued and your ideas can genuinely influence how we deliver services.

You will work with children and families to understand their strengths, interests, challenges and goals, developing practical, meaningful interventions that can make a difference in everyday life. Your work may include supporting sensory regulation, emotional regulation, fine and gross motor development, executive functioning, self-care, play, social participation, school participation and independence.

At Treehouse, you won't work in isolation. You will collaborate closely with Speech Pathologists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Developmental Educators, Early Intervention Teachers, Counsellors, Key Workers and Therapy Assistants, giving you the opportunity to learn from other disciplines and provide genuinely integrated support to children and families.

Key Responsibilities

Occupational Therapy Assessment

- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for children and young people experiencing developmental delay, disability and/or neurodivergence.
- Assess functional capacity across areas including:
- Activities of daily living and self-care
- Fine and gross motor skills
- Sensory processing and regulation
- Emotional regulation
- Executive functioning
- Attention and participation
- Play skills
- Social participation
- School and learning participation
- Community participation
- Functional independence.

- Use appropriate standardised and non-standardised assessment tools to inform clinical decision-making.
- Complete functional assessments and provide recommendations regarding supports, environmental modifications and assistive technology where appropriate.
- Identify strengths, barriers and opportunities for skill development.

Therapy Intervention

- Develop and deliver individualised occupational therapy intervention based on each child's goals, needs and functional priorities.
- Provide therapy through individual, group, family and community-based interventions where clinically appropriate.




- Support children to develop practical skills that improve independence and participation.
- Develop strategies to support sensory regulation, emotional regulation, executive functioning, motor development and daily living skills.
- Support children to develop participation and confidence in home, school, community and recreational environments.
- Incorporate play-based and child-centred approaches into therapeutic intervention.
- Review intervention regularly and modify therapy plans based on progress, outcomes and changing needs.

Family and Carer Support

- Work collaboratively with parents and carers to understand the child's needs, strengths and priorities.
- Provide parents and carers with practical strategies that can be incorporated into everyday routines.
- Provide education regarding occupational therapy, sensory processing, regulation, development and functional participation.
- Support families to build their capacity to implement therapeutic strategies outside of formal therapy sessions.
- Ensure children and families are actively involved in goal setting and decision-making.

Multidisciplinary Practice

- Work collaboratively with Treehouse Speech Pathologists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Developmental Educators, Early Intervention Teachers, Counsellors, Key Workers and Therapy Assistants.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and team meetings.
- Contribute occupational therapy expertise to shared clinical formulation and intervention planning.
- Make appropriate referrals to other professionals and external services where required.
- Support integrated intervention where multiple disciplines are working with the same child or family.
- Participate in collaborative supervision and professional development activities.
