Draper's Civil Contracting is seeking an experienced Pipe Crew Leader to join our team in Breakwater, VIC 3219. This is a full-time position that offers a fantastic opportunity to lead and manage our pipe laying operations on civil contracting projects. As Pipe Crew Leader, you will be responsible for running your team of three, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time and to the highest standards. This role is pivotal to our operations and directly impacts project success and team performance.
Key responsibilities
Lead and supervise a team of pipe layers and labourers on site, ensuring productivity and adherence to project schedules
Plan and organise daily work activities, including task allocation and resource management
Ensure all team members comply with workplace health and safety requirements and site-specific safety protocols
Conduct regular toolbox talks and safety briefings to maintain a strong safety culture
Monitor quality of workmanship and inspect pipe laying operations to meet project specifications and standards
Communicate effectively with project managers and other trades to coordinate activities and resolve any issues
Maintain accurate records of work completed, labour hours and materials used
Identify training needs within the team and support the development of crew members
Ensure safe and effective operation of plant and equipment within your team
Contribute to cost control by minimising waste and optimising resource utilisation
What we're looking for
Proven experience as a Pipe Layer and Crew Leader, with at least 3-5 years in the industry
Demonstrated leadership experience managing a team in a construction or civil contracting environment
Strong knowledge of pipe laying techniques, materials and best practices
Excellent understanding of workplace health and safety regulations and site safety protocols
Ability to read and interpret drawings,
plans and technical specifications
Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to different job sites as required
Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour and work in various weather conditions
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead by example
Problem-solving abilities and sound judgement in managing site issues
A commitment to continuous improvement and maintaining high standards of workmanship
Relevant qualifications such as Trench Support, Working at Heights, Cert III in Civil Construction qualification would be advantageous
