About the role
We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Officer to join our Operations team in Derrimut, Victoria. This role will manage purchasing, inventory replenishment and supplier coordination to ensure raw materials, packaging and other requirements are available to support production schedules.
Working closely with Procurement, Planning, Operations and other key teams, you will help maintain material availability, manage supplier performance and support effective inventory management.
Key responsibilities & duties
- Manage the end-to-end purchasing process, including purchase orders, order confirmations, supplier communications and receipt of goods.
- Source and procure raw materials and packaging to support production schedules and customer demand.
- Monitor inventory levels, manage replenishment requirements and review excess, slow-moving and obsolete stock.
- Expedite urgent orders, resolve delivery issues and proactively manage supply risks to minimise production disruptions.
- Manage supplier relationships and monitor performance across lead times, delivery, quality, service and cost.
- Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory records in SAGE X3, support stocktakes and investigate inventory discrepancies.
- Prepare supplier forecasts and reporting on supplier performance, stock holdings, inventory accuracy and purchasing activities.
- Support supplier reviews and continuous improvement initiatives to improve procurement, inventory management and operational efficiency.
Work experience and skills
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in supply planning, materials planning or direct procurement within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience within the chemical or related manufacturing industry will be highly regarded.
- Strong understanding of direct procurement, inventory management,
demand requirements and supplier coordination.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems, with SAGE X3 experience highly regarded.
- Strong analytical, organisational, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Procurement or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
