Early Childhood Teacher - Charley's Cottage

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Early Childhood Teacher who wants to be part of something special. This role is suited to an educator who is confident in their teaching practice, genuinely enjoys being with children and understands that some of the most meaningful learning happens through relationships, play, curiosity and everyday experiences. You will be responsible for developing and implementing a high-quality, engaging and responsive educational program that reflects the interests, strengths and individual needs of the children. You will work closely with our educators and families to create a consistent, supportive and nurturing learning environment.

Key responsibilities

- Develop and implement a high-quality, engaging and responsive educational program that reflects the interests, strengths and individual needs of the children
- Work closely with educators and families to create a consistent, supportive and nurturing learning environment
- Lead a program and engage children through meaningful experiences, conversations and play
- Build genuine connections with families and take time to know each child
- Turn spontaneous moments into meaningful learning opportunities
- Create an environment where every child and family feels they belong
- Conduct observations, documentation, planning and critical reflection
- Lead and mentor a team

About you

- An approved Early Childhood Teaching qualification
- Strong knowledge of the EYLF and National Quality Standard
- A sound understanding of Reggio Emilia principles and practices
- Experience developing and implementing a play-based, child-led educational program
- Strong knowledge of children's development and learning
- Experience with observations, documentation, planning and critical reflection




- The ability to confidently lead and mentor a team
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A commitment to inclusion and children's rights
- Teacher registration and or a Current Working With Children Check and other relevant compliance requirements

About us

Charley's Cottage is a unique, small and family-orientated early childhood centre where relationships, belonging and a genuine love of learning sit at the heart of everything we do. With approximately 40 children attending each day, our centre has a beautiful, homely Queenslander atmosphere where children are known, valued and supported as individuals. Our large grassy outdoor environment provides space for children to explore, create, investigate and challenge themselves through open-ended play and an abundance of loose parts. Our program is child-led, allowing children's interests, ideas, questions and discoveries to guide their learning. We value the principles and practices of the Reggio Emilia approach and work with external programs that extend children's interests and learning in areas such as art and creativity, sustainability, wellbeing and movement.
