The role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager and working in a close-knit finance team, you will take ownership of end-to-end payroll for up to 300 employees on a fortnightly basis. Your key duties will include;
- End-to-end fortnightly payroll processing for up to 300 on-site employees
- Ensuring compliance with relevant awards, enterprise agreements and Australian payroll legislation
- Calculating and processing leave, superannuation, taxes and deductions
- Preparing payroll reports and supporting EOFY requirements
- Collaborating with HR and Finance to maintain accuracy and data integrity
The operation
Our client is a well-regarded residential mining operation situated in Central Victoria, east of Bendigo, surrounded by a number of towns within a 50km radius offering a variety of residential options. The operation runs an underground mine and processing plant producing gold and antimony, with a workforce of over 250 permanent employees across professional, technical, mining, processing and trade roles.

- Responding to payroll queries from employees, supervisors and management with professionalism and confidentiality
- Collaborating with HR, Finance and site leadership to maintain payroll accuracy and data integrity
- Providing backup support to the broader finance function as required
- Contributing to continuous improvement of payroll systems, processes and controls
The roster and hours
- Monday to Friday - 7:00am to 3:00pm
- 5/2 roster - residential role, home every night
Your skills and experience
You’ll bring solid payroll experience, a genuine eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality. You’ll also have;
- 4+ years' experience processing high-volume payroll end-to-end
- Sound understanding of Australian payroll legislation and Fair Work requirements
- Ability to interpret and apply enterprise agreements
- Experience using Kronos and/or Payroll Metrics (highly regarded)
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
