Senior Staff Specialist | Fixed-Term Appointment up to 3 Years | Leadership & Clinical Role

Remuneration Package: $596,075 – $639,082 p.a.

The Opportunity Sante Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Staff Specialist Physician with an interest in medical leadership to undertake the role of Head of Department – Medicine at Alice Springs Hospital.

This is a unique opportunity to take on a senior leadership position within one of Australia's most important regional and remote health services.

Working under the direction of the Office of the Executive Director Medical Services (OEDMS), you will provide leadership to the Department of Medicine, with responsibility for service delivery, workforce planning and the development of a sustainable, engaged and high-performing medical workforce.

The position offers the opportunity to combine strategic medical leadership with clinical practice, with 0.5 FTE allocated to leadership and management responsibilities and a flexible clinical component determined by service requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide clinical and professional leadership to the Department of Medicine
- Lead service delivery and clinical workforce planning
- Support the recruitment, retention and development of medical staff
- Build a positive, high-performing and engaged medical workforce
- Promote staff wellbeing and a supportive workplace culture
- Support high-quality, safe and culturally appropriate patient care
- Contribute to service planning and development
- Represent Central Australia and the Division of Medicine as delegated by the OEDMS
- Work collaboratively with General Medicine and relevant medical subspecialties
- Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement and service development

Remuneration & Benefits

Total remuneration package: $596,075 – $639,082 p.a. The package comprises base salary and applicable allowances in accordance with the Medical Officers NTPS Enterprise Agreement.

About You

The successful applicant will be an experienced physician with:





- Specialist registration or eligibility for specialist registration with AHPRA
- Appropriate specialist physician qualifications
- Demonstrated senior clinical experience
- Strong medical leadership capability
- Experience in service development and/or clinical governance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to culturally appropriate and patient-centred care
- Ability to work effectively within a regional and remote healthcare environment

An interest or experience in General Medicine and medical workforce leadership will be highly regarded.

International Medical Graduates with appropriate specialist qualifications and eligibility for Australian specialist registration are encouraged to enquire.
