WhatWe’reLooking For:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experiencedWater Civil Engineer tojoin the Infrastructure Planning and Engineering Branch.The Infrastructure Planning and Engineering Branchis responsible forasset and growth strategy, portfolio, program and project development and planning,analytics and modelling services,technical engineeringadviceand design management services to ensure the Icon Water’s assets are safe,sustainableand fit for purpose in the long term.

About this role:

The role of theWater Engineer – Civilis to support senior engineering staff and contribute to providing technicalexpertise,advice. TheWater Engineer – Civilwill provide support to otherseniorengineers in design review,productionand updateofstandards,andimplementing the Engineering Assurance framework

Responsibilities of this role

To be successful in this role you willbe requiredto:

- Provideassistancetothe Associate Dam Safety Engineer and work closely with them to deliver the Dam Safety Program of work.
- Independently respond to technical queries from the Urban Development Services sectionand other stakeholders, ensuring thorough analysis, while coordinating with team members to provide consistent responses to deviations from standards.
- Provideassistancein preparation oftechnical user requirements specificationsand review and update of the standards.




- Carry outthe engineering investigation process into issues of material significance to the successful and efficient operation of Icon Water’s assets.
- Collecting and analysingdata forroot cause analysis
- Carryoutconditionassessment and monitoring of Icon Water assets including dams and service reservoirs
- Undertake contract development and management, andassistin tender evaluations for minor services contracts
- Keep up to date with relevant compliance obligations and communicate any material changes to the relevant responsible party within Icon Water.
- Provide input to prioritisation of activities for the specialistCivil/Mechanical engineering team, and towards daily taskallocation.
- Provide technical governance forallocatedprojects to ensure that approved assetobjectivesare achieved. This involves offering business and technicalexpertise, guiding project managers, andensuring that designs align with agreed deliverables. Additionally, represent the project at key milestones.
- Develop and provide technical user requirements specifications for new projects, ensuring they reflect the necessary standards andobjectivesfor successful execution.
- Initiate and lead projects aimed at addressing engineering issues or opportunities, ensuring they align with organisational goals and deliver measurable improvements.
- Lead or contribute to engineering investigations into critical issues affecting the effective operation of Icon Water’s assets. This includesidentifyingactions required to resolve issues and improve performance.
- Activelyidentifyand highlight technical risks and opportunities for resolution, ensuring any emerging challenges are addressed proactively tomaintainoperational efficiency.
- Conduct root cause analysis or ICAM investigations into significant technical incidents,determiningcauses and recommending corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Develop, implement,



andmaintainengineering systems that promote best practices and support ongoing engineering excellence across the organisation.
- Provideexpert advice to enableappropriate organisationaldelegates to make informed decisions regarding the integrity and reliability of assets within their domain.
- Undertakeadditionalduties within the scope of the employee’s skills, competence, and training, as needed to support operational goals.
- Other duties within the employee’s skill,competenceand training.

Who we are looking for:

We’reseeking a dedicated individual who has a Bachelor of Engineering degree in CivilStructural or Mechanicaldiscipline, that is recognised under the Washington Accord or Engineers Australia, with relevant experience in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.

You should also have the following:

- 3-5years’ experienceafter graduationand technical knowledge ofprocess andinfrastructure used within the water and wastewater industry.
- Knowledge and understanding of dam safety, including ANCOLD guidelines
- Ability to writereports in the field orexpertiseand prepare external correspondence.
- Advanced knowledge and experiencewithwater and wastewater assetsand industry.
- Extensive experience and technical knowledge of process and infrastructure used within the water and wastewater industry.
- Ability to lead a highly specialised team in a high reliability environment.
- Ability to mount a technical ‘argument’ using a variety of communication formats in a convincing mannerappropriate tothe audience, peers,operationsand maintenance staff.
- Ability to influence and negotiate outcomes through professional and productive engagement with senior executives and managers, peers, staff at all levels,customersand suppliers, while building and enhancing relationships.
- Advanced knowledge and experience in the integrity and optimisation of water and wastewater assets.
- To be competent inWSAA codes, Safety-in-Design requirements, HAZOP and CHAIR processes.
