We are seeking an experienced Accountant (Corporate) who will be responsible for the accurate and timely financial management, compliance, taxation and reporting for a portfolio of Satterley Property Group corporate and family office entities. The role acts as a key support to the Financial Controller (Corporate), supporting financial reporting, audit and taxation compliance, banking, cashflow management, Board reporting, statutory obligations and continuous improvement initiatives. The position also provides technical accounting expertise, supports finance transformation activities and acts as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare weekly, monthly and ad hoc financial reporting for senior management, including management accounts comprising full Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet statements for allocated corporate entities.
- Analyse monthly financial results and provide meaningful commentary on variances to budget, forecast and prior periods.
- Support the Corporate Financial Controller in the preparation of Executive, Board and other corporate reporting packs.
- Prepare BAS/IAS returns for SPG and review BAS/IAS returns for other corporate entities.
- Prepare draft income tax returns, coordinate supporting tax information and liaise with external tax advisors on annual tax compliance.
- Prepare annual FBT returns and supporting calculations.
- Liaise with the Australian Taxation Office on taxation, compliance and regulatory matters.
- Prepare and lodge TFN, ABN, and GST registrations, maintaining accurate statutory records.
- Prepare year-end financial accounts, supporting schedules and audit workpapers.
- Coordinate and ensure adherence to year-end audit timetables and statutory reporting deadlines.
- Prepare annual audited financial statements and associated disclosure notes.
- Act as the primary support and delegate to the Corporate Financial Controller across corporate finance activities.
- Undertake special projects and other duties as directed by the Corporate Financial Controller, CFO, Managing Director or Chief Executive.
- Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities to enhance processes and controls.
- Actively engage in & support the finance systems transformation agenda.
About You
- You will be a proactive finance qualified who enjoys solving problems,
building positive relationships and challenging the status quo to improve outcomes. You take pride in delivering accurate work and meeting deadlines. To be successful, you will ideally have:
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- CA/CPA Qualified.
- Minimum 5 years progressive experience in corporate accounting, financial reporting or business services.
- Proven end-to-end ownership of month-end close and reporting across multiple entities.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing company income tax returns.
- Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, taxation compliance (BAS, FBT and income tax) and statutory reporting.
- Experience supporting external audits and preparing statutory financial statements.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and financial reporting capabilities.
The successful candidate will be required to have working rights in Australia aligned to a permanent role and must provide a National Police Clearance no older than 3 months.
