About the position
You will be joining a small development team based in Brisbane. They value the ability to learn quickly, creativity, attention to detail as well as the accountability and ownership of the role and outcomes. Being a small team, you will have the opportunity to communicate directly with customers in garnering feedback and requirements so good communication skills are essential. You will be working on our core Rails products, as well as support of other products.
From an operational and delivery perspective, the Ruby on Rails Developer will:
- Product Design / Scoping roadmap, planning, producing scope of works for each relevant software project.
- You will be responsible for writing well designed, testable, efficient code.
- The validation and integration of data from backend databases and services.
- Create and maintain software documentation and other required content.
To be successful in this role you will have experience as a Ruby on Rails Developer within a similar company. You will have experience across the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, relevant engineering field, or equivalent experience preferred, but not essential.
- Ruby on Rails (including basic concepts such as MVC, OOP, etc).
- Source control (Git including features such as branching).
- Experience working with AWS Services and DevOps environments.
- Ability to design simple layouts.
- Basic documentation skills.
- Accuracy, attention to detail and completes tasks (a finisher).
- Self-driven with good time management and prioritisation skills.
- Valuable verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to successfully collaborate with technical and non-technical staff.
- Proven problem-solving ability and enjoys learning and applying new skills
- Strong autonomous background and ability to self-manage time and tasks.
- Ability to work under pressure and time constraints.
