About Compare Club
Compare Club is one of Australia's leading financial comparison platforms. We help over 500,000 Australians each year simplify their household bills — from mortgages and life insurance to health insurance and energy. Our 600+ team members across Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and globally are dedicated to putting money back into consumer pockets.
Our vision is to be the trusted financial autopilot for the household CFO — a future where a household's bills are continuously managed and optimised in the background, measurably improving their financial position without them having to think about it.
The Opportunity
Partnerships are how a growing share of our customers first reach us, and this role owns what that channel delivers commercially. You'll take the existing book of distribution partners and the pipeline of new ones, across our Health, Life and Utilities businesses, with room to originate into lending, travel, car and home.
There are two halves to it. The first is running the book you inherit: holding partners to their commercial contribution, renegotiating terms that no longer earn their margin, and lifting the yield of what's already there. The second is construction — sourcing, pitching, negotiating and launching partnerships large enough to move the revenue line on their own. A deal that takes two quarters to build and moves the revenue line by itself is worth more to us than six that close in a fortnight and deliver a trickle.
You'll be measured on revenue and contribution margin, and on how durable the partnerships you sign turn out to be.
Key Responsibilities & Ownership
- Partnerships P&L;: own revenue, cost per sale and contribution margin for the partnerships channel, and forecast it with Commercial Finance.
- Portfolio Performance: hold existing partners to their commercial contribution, Renegotiate, Escalate or exit relationships that no longer earn their margin.
- Origination & Deal Construction: source, pitch, negotiate, contract and launch recent distribution partners across our verticals.
- Commercial Terms & Pricing: set terms and pricing inside an approved deal framework, reporting to the CRO who approves the exceptions.
- Strategic Initiatives: build new models of distribution and pursue adjacent commercial opportunities as the core book stabilises.
- Rhythm of Business: run a weekly view on revenue, CPS and margin by partner, monthly partner reviews, and a quarterly portfolio and forecast reset.
What You Bring to the Role
- Complex Partnership Delivery: large distribution or channel partnerships you've landed yourself — deals that took months, needed several people to say yes, and moved a revenue line. Depth of deal matters more here than how many you've signed.
- Commercial Ownership:
you've owned a revenue line and contribution margin, been held to cost per sale and CM, and you're comfortable there.
- Turning Around a Partner Book: you've managed partners through underperformance — terms renegotiated, relationships escalated, some exited.
- Unit Economics Fluency: you can hold a pricing conversation with Finance and a value conversation with a partner in the same week.
- Creative Deal Construction: you start from what the partner is actually trying to fix — their P&L; pressure, their customer proposition, their internal politics — and find the trade neither side would have proposed on their own.
- Regulated Environment Experience: comfort operating within AFSL, disclosure and DDO obligations.
- Executive Credibility: you'll be representing Compare Club at the table with partner executives.
- Desirable: insurance, health insurance, energy, lending or an adjacent comparison or marketplace model; white-label or embedded distribution, including insurer and underwriter sign-off; an HR-tech, payroll or employee-benefits distribution channel.
Why Join Compare Club?
- A Commercial Mandate: you own the channel's P&L; and report directly to the executive who approves the deals.
- Room to Build: no direct reports on day one. You'll build the support around you as the book grows, with the CRO's backing to make that case when the volume justifies it.
- Purpose-Driven Product: the partnerships you land put money back in the pockets of Australian households.
- Competitive Package: attractive executive remuneration package aligned with experience and performance.
