About the Role
Perinatal mental health sits at a genuinely complex intersection of clinical practice, family systems, and community care. At the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN), we're looking for an experienced Nurse or Midwife Consultant to lead and strengthen perinatal mental health service delivery across Adelaide's northern metropolitan communities — a population with real need and a team committed to meeting it.
What You'll Be Leading
- Providing advanced clinical consultation, assessment, and care coordination for women and birthing people experiencing perinatal mental health challenges across NALHN Mental Health Services, Salisbury Adult Service
- Driving service development and quality improvement initiatives that embed best-practice perinatal mental health care into clinical pathways
- Building and sustaining team-oriented relationships with obstetric, midwifery, infant and child health, and community services to ensure continuity of care
- Mentoring and supporting the wider multidisciplinary team through education, clinical supervision, and consultancy
What You Bring
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife with AHPRA,
with a Master's qualification or equivalent advanced practice experience in mental health or perinatal care
- Demonstrated specialist knowledge of perinatal mental health, including assessment and evidence-based intervention across the perinatal period
- Proven ability to work consultatively across multidisciplinary and multi-agency environments
- Experience in service development, clinical leadership, or quality improvement within a public health setting
- A current, unencumbered driver's licence and willingness to work across NALHN sites as required
- Understanding of SA Health policy frameworks and the specific health needs of northern Adelaide communities

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.
