Ryde City Council

Behind every happy payday is someone who genuinely cares about getting it right.

At VetPartners, we know payroll isn't just about numbers on a screen, it's about making sure thousands of people who care for pets can focus on doing what they love, knowing they'll be paid accurately and on time.

With more than 270 veterinary clinics across Australia and New Zealand, we're growing, evolving and looking for a Payroll Officer who's ready to be part of a supportive, high-performing team where accuracy, collaboration and continuous learning are valued every day.

If you enjoy solving problems, love the satisfaction of a perfectly balanced pay run and take pride in delivering great service, we'd love to meet you.

About the role

Reporting to the Payroll Team Leader, you'll be at the heart of our payroll operations, ensuring our clinics and support office teams are paid correctly and on time, every time.

You'll be responsible for:

- Processing end-to-end weekly and fortnightly payrolls with accuracy and attention to detail
- Maintaining payroll data, employee records, timesheets and leave balances
- Investigating and resolving payroll queries quickly and professionally
- Preparing payroll reports, reconciliations and statutory submissions
- Supporting compliance with Australian and/or New Zealand payroll legislation
- Assisting with payroll audits and ensuring payroll processes remain compliant
- Developing your technical expertise across areas such as Superannuation, Long Service Leave, Payroll Tax, STP/PAYG, KiwiSaver, Holidays Act and employment legislation
- Building trusted relationships with clinics, Support Office teams and stakeholders by delivering responsive, friendly and solutions-focused customer service
- Looking for opportunities to improve processes and make payroll even better

About you

You're someone who enjoys working with numbers, but even more than that, you enjoy helping people.

You'll also bring:

- 3+ years' payroll experience, ideally in a high-volume or multi-site environment
- Knowledge of Australian and/or New Zealand payroll legislation and payroll processes
- Experience interpreting Awards, Enterprise Agreements or employment legislation (highly regarded)
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to getting things right the first time
- Outstanding organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- A curious mindset and the genuine desire to continue learning and building your payroll expertise
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-first approach
- High levels of integrity and professionalism when handling confidential information
- Experience with Micropay and Humanforce is highly regarded but not essential

Why you'll love working with us

Payroll might be about numbers, but our team is all about people.

You'll join a friendly, knowledgeable team that enjoys sharing ideas, solving challenges together and celebrating the small wins (like balancing a tricky pay run before lunch).

We offer:

- Hybrid working that supports flexibility
- A genuinely supportive team that loves to collaborate
- Ongoing training and opportunities to build your payroll knowledge and career
- Exposure to both Australian and New Zealand payroll in a growing organisation
- Opportunities to contribute to payroll improvement projects and business initiatives
- Staff discounts and benefits across the VetPartners network
- A culture built around our values: We Genuinely Care. We Build Community. We Inspire Excellence. We Act with Integrity

At VetPartners, we're passionate about creating a workplace where everyone feels welcome, supported and empowered to do their best work.
