About The Role
Mewing Planning Consultants has a proud history of supporting and employing student and graduate town planners. This opportunity has arisen following the graduation of our two most recent Student Planners, who have progressed into permanent full-time roles within our team.
The role offers practical undergraduate experience in a specialist consultancy working on a diverse range of projects across Queensland, alongside a highly experienced, high-performing and engaging team.
The role is based in our Brisbane CBD office located at Level 13, 340 Adelaide Street and is offered on a casual basis, with working arrangements structured around university commitments.
What You Will Be Involved In
- Preparing,
lodging and assisting with the management of development applications;
- Strategic planning and planning policy projects;
- Reviewing planning schemes and interpreting legislation;
- Supporting the preparation of planning advice across a range of local government areas, land uses and development types;
- The statutory development assessment process;
- Planning research and investigations; and
- Supporting team members in meeting client and project requirements.
About You
We are looking for a university student currently undertaking a recognised town planning degree, who is motivated to gain high-quality, practical experience alongside their studies.
The following attributes are desirable:
- A sound understanding of town planning principles and methods;
- Foundational knowledge of the Queensland planning framework;
- A demonstrated commitment to your studies and professional development;
- Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong analytical, organisational and time management skills;
- A proactive and enthusiastic approach, with an interest in learning and being challenged;
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work to timeframes; and
- The ability to work collaboratively and diligently with team members and external consultants.
