About the role

Bathurst Regional Council is seeking a Finance Officer to join the Financial Services Team for a Maximum Term Contract of 12 months - Flexible and Hybrid working arrangements will be considered for this role.

You’ll play an important role in supporting sound financial decision-making and helping Council deliver sustainable services to our local community.

- Drive effective financial managementby overseeing designated cost centres, supporting budget preparation, analysing variances and delivering clear, accurate and timely monthly financial reports that help managers make informed decisions.
- Turn financial data into meaningful insightsby maintaining the integrity of Council’s general ledger and ensuring accurate, reliable and timely financial information is available to support Council operations and strategic priorities.
- Contribute to a positive workplace cultureby promoting teamwork, collaboration, cooperation and a professional and courteous approach in everything you do.
- Previous accounting/costing experience.
- Good communication skills, both written and oral.
- Computer experience with emphasis on Excel or similar.
- Proven experience working in a team environment.
- A current class C Drivers Licence.
- A demonstrated understanding of budgeting principals.
- Experience in Local Government.
- Degree in Accounting/Business or equivalent or evidence of satisfactory progression towards attaining appropriate qualifications or equivalent experience.
- Experience with Civica local government accounting software,



or similar systems.

Salary:$1,403.60 to $1,474.68 per week + 12% superannuation

Hours of work: Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 4:45 pm - 35 hours per week with an RDO every third week – Flexible and Hybrid working arrangements will be considered for this role.
