Core Talent is currently seeking an experienced Project Safety Officer to join a major automation project based in Deer Park, Melbourne.
This is a temp to permanent opportunityworking on a large-scale automated warehousing and distribution centre project for a major global FMCG organisation.
You’ll be based on site and play a key role in maintaining high safety standards across a busy, multi-contractor construction environment. This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys being visible on site, working closely with project teams and taking a proactive approach to safety.
Working alongside the Project Safety Manager, you’ll provide practical WHS support across the project and work closely with project managers, supervisors, engineers, subcontractors and other key stakeholders.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing day-to-day WHS support and advice across the project
- Conducting regular site inspections, audits and safety observations
- Identifying hazards and supporting effective risk controls
- Facilitating site inductions, toolbox talks and pre-starts
- Reviewing SWMS, permits, procedures and other safety documentation
- Supporting incident investigations and corrective actions
- Maintaining safety, hazard and risk registers
- Assisting with the implementation and maintenance of the Site Safety Management Plan
- Supporting subcontractor onboarding and safety compliance
- Working with principal contractors, builders, clients and project stakeholders
- Contributing to safety meetings, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives
- Promoting a strong, proactive safety culture across the site
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a safety professional who is confident working in a fast-paced site environment and can build robust relationships with a range of stakeholders.
You’ll ideally have:
- A Diploma or Degree in WHS, OHS, Health & Safety or a related discipline
- 5+ years' experience in a site-based safety role
- Experience across construction, industrial, manufacturing, commercial, fit-out or similar environments
- Experience working on larger projects with multiple contractors and work fronts
- Strong experience with site inspections, audits, risk assessments and incident investigations
- Solid knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and safety management systems
- The confidence to challenge unsafe practices and influence positive safety outcomes
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Current White Card
- Current Australian Driver's Licence
