Aboriginal Liaison Officer

The Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre (TAC) is seeking a compassionate and motivated Aboriginal Liaison Officer to join the Nukara Family & Children's Team in the Greater North. This rewarding role supports Aboriginal children and families through culturally safe, trauma-informed practice, helping families access the support, services and advocacy they need to improve safety and wellbeing.

About the Role In this role, you will work directly with Aboriginal children and families, providing culturally safe support, undertaking family assessments, coordinating referrals and supporting safety planning activities. You will work collaboratively with TAC programs, Child Safety Services, the Advice and Referral Line (ARL) and other agencies to ensure families receive timely and appropriate support.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide culturally safe, trauma-informed support to Aboriginal children and families.
- Undertake family assessments, risk identification and safety planning activities.
- Facilitate referrals and coordinate access to internal and external services.
- Participate in case planning, multidisciplinary meetings and care coordination activities.
- Advocate for the needs,



rights and self-determination of Aboriginal children and families.
- Develop solid community and service provider relationships to improve outcomes for families.

About You

- Experience working with children and families.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport.
- Experience undertaking risk assessment, safety planning or case coordination activities.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to culturally safe practice and Aboriginal self-determination principles.

Requirements

- Current Driver Licence.
- Current National Police Check.
- Current Working with Vulnerable People Registration.
- Evidence of COVID-19 vaccination.
